Shop: A dress to wear nearly year-round

Now that the promotional frenzy of last weekend has ended, I feel that I can slow down a bit. It’s time to more casually peruse the latest clothing and accessory debuts. Without a doubt the brand mostly catching my eye right now is Madewell. Just when I thought they couldn’t possibly top their Spring collection, here are the Madewell May new arrivals, and well, they’re beautiful!

These new arrivals build upon the color palette of Spring and glancing towards warmer days ahead. I’m immersed in happiness dilly-dallying through the effortless perfection Madewell continues to provide. Quite simply, Madewell makes getting dressed each morning easy. You’ve seen in my recent Madewell OOTDs (1 | 2 and a 3rd upcoming!) how their dresses lend themselves to easy layering. Also, they look quite delightful on their own!

From the latest, my favorite item has to be the Denim Pintuck Cami Dress ($128, above). The combination of heathered denim in a lightweight fabric seems ideal for future meanderings down the city sidewalks on oppressively hot days. I adore the pintuck paneling both in the front and back which means this dress will fit a variety of figures.

Another dress delighting me is the Garment-Dyed Apron Maxi Dress ($128). I’ve seen this dress in person and the online product shots do not do it justice! With a pleasantly high square-neck and a stunning back detail, this dress looks simple yet professes elegance. As I walked around the bottom floor the Soho Madewell I felt casually glamorous in the dress! It’s that same feeling I used to get trying on stuff at Anthropologie.

Turning to skirts, I only wish there was a tall version of the Pieced Beverly Jean Skirt ($88), a trendy two-tone denim skirt that looks immensely fun to wear! If white denim is more your thing you have choices. The longer White High-Slit Jean Skirt ($88) continues my love affair with denim maxi skirts (see my fave on me here). Also, I own last year’s version of the Button-Front Jean Skirt in Tile White ($80). It got one of my biggest smiles when I was unloading my Spring/Summer closet from our basement storage cage! It sits solidly above the knee and goes with pretty much any top you’d like to throw at it.

Below, more of my favorite new dresses and skirts at Madewell. If you prefer you can shop everything at once in the boutique at the bottom of the post. Is anyone else crossing their fingers and toes for a full-price item promotion very soon?

Shorts are not the first reason to shop at Madewell in my mind. However that said, they have a lot of cute options right now! My favorite new pair is the High-Rise Denim Shorts, Garment-Dyed Edition ($80). That price is admittedly hard to swallow! I will say that I own the white version which are making a return appearance for this year and they are fabulous! They are nice and stretchy without losing their shape and the large front pockets are flattering to all body types. Especially types like mine with thicker legs! The white version is nearly opaque; avoid black or navy undies and you’ll be just fine. If you don’t like the square front pockets there is also a regular front pocket version of the white short too.

Tops may just be the star of these Madewell May new arrivals! I feel like I barely had time to appreciate tops from the last new release like the Wrap Top in Candied Orchids ($88) or the Embroidered Fable Top (now $59-$65)! Yet here come lovely new options like the Embroidered Side-Tie Tank ($80, above in green) or my new obsession, the Embroidered Kimono Wrap Top ($88). Swoon!

Among my recent Madewell pickups is the Butterfly Top in Stripe Play ($55). Pleasantly voluminous, this top makes a great work piece. It looks fab under a denim jacket and has huge sleeves that endlessly delight me! An OOTD is upcoming. I also really like the pom-pom version of the shirt. And though Alex lovingly teases me that I have the prettiest linebacker shoulders ever in it, I also adore the Embroidered Story Top ($88).

Agree about the tops. There are so many that I love. At the top of my list: the Embroidered Sweater tank, Short sleeve Wrap Striped top, both Kimono tops, Embroidered Hilltop shirt and the white Cali Demi-boot jeans.
