Madewell Permission to Splurge Event for Spring 2018 :: Effortlessly with Roxy

Last Spring Madewell had hardly any promotions but this Spring? They’re showering us with offers and I’m loving it! Yesterday the Madewell Permission to Splurge Event began and I plan to, thanks. During this special offer you can take 20% off purchases under $200 and 30% off purchases of $200+.

As usual my Madewell wishlist is long and full of tons of pretty items. Also as usual I find that when I see items on Madewell’s site I think they’re OK. Then in person I truly fall in love with them! For example the Tie-Waist Maxi Dress in Vintage Daisies ($168 + up to 30% off, also available here) looked alright online. Once I saw it in person it had to be mine! You can see it on me here.

I’m delighted to be collaborating with Madewell again this Spring on some outfit posts. As a result I believe I’ll be able to show just how wearable a lot of their stuff is. Yet even if I was not working with them again this year I’d have a long wishlist! That’s why I’m so excited about this Madewell Permission to Splurge Event. It’s led by items like the Denim Wrap Top ($58 + up to 30% off) seen above. This is such a refined, elegant and effortless piece that you can pair with anything to make a chic outfit.

It’s no surprise that Madewell has released the wrap top in several materials and pattern options. Take for example this orchid-splashed version or this striped version. If you’re tired of long sleeves there’s also a tee shirt version. It too comes in several colors! You can wear these tops over jeans, tops or skirts and it will look fabulous!

Meanwhile, Madewell has also seen fit to re-release some popular items from last year. The High-Rise Denim Boyshorts in Tile White: Button-Through Edition ($80 + up to 30% off) were in constant rotation for me last Summer. Here they are again, unchanged from last year! The higher waist makes them extra comfortable. They pair very well with patterns like gingham.

You’ll find so many items to love in the Madewell Permission to Splurge Event. Below, all my picks — what might you invest in during this special offer?

Love the daisy maxi on you! I ordered 2 of the tee dresses (navy stripe and heather petunia)… not very thrilling, but I know they’ll be staples when it gets to be a hundred degrees and I don’t feel like wearing anything too fussy.

I so appreciate that Madewell offers FREE shipping for loyalty members.

Thank you Kelly! Right??! I'm a Madewell Icon and that means I get free two day shipping on all of my orders, it's such a nice perk! I can't believe other stores don't do this.

I'd love to hear how the tee dresses work for you!

My dresses arrived & I will keep both. I have a couple tee dresses from last year that are a more lightweight, swingy material; these are a mid weight cotton and have more of a straight shape than last years version. I am a size 8, pear shape, and got the M. They are a little loose up top but I think the S would be too tight across my hips and backside. I wouldn’t say they’re super figure-flattering or anything, but I got them to run around on the weekends, etc. when it’s a billion degrees outside and I just want something comfortable but still cute enough.

Thanks for the detailed review Kelly! I think I may have to purchase one too.

I am OBSESSED with shopping at Madewell! I'm having a hard time just picking one piece that I love! Definitely that chambray wrap top and that colorful dress is on top of my list!

    • April 4, 2018 / 9:27 pm

I tried on the chambray wrap top today and it is so good! I think it will look great in a denim on denim outfit.

Roxy, is the wrap top cropped? I have a long torso and wonder if it would show my belly too much?

        • April 6, 2018 / 8:30 am

It is just a bit cropped. I’d say it would look best with high rise jeans. With mid rise jeans there may be a bit of tummy that flashes as you walk, and with low rise it would definitely show belly.

I love Madewell! That faux wrap top is so cute, I'll have to check it out!!

Everything Madewell everyday!! The transport crossbody is my favorite (if i had to actually pick a favorite thing from
Madewell). Love your choices! Sounds like a great deal!

    • April 4, 2018 / 9:28 pm

Great choice! I have the Transport Crossbody in a lovely light color from a couple of years ago and it's still in heavy rotation among my bags.

I bought that first blouse at the top and it's very cute in person along with the denim skirt with buttons down the front and love it, Madewell always seems to have good basic pieces I always seem to gravitate to. Also, I couldn't help laughing but that model looks like she's drunk and trying to get up in that second photo lol.

    • April 4, 2018 / 9:29 pm

lol I hadn't thought of that before Jess but now that's what I'll see every time I look at that photo! I do love denim skirts with buttons down the front. I have pretty much every length of that a girl could ever want now.

I tried on my first pair of Madewell jeans last week at Nordstrom and I really liked them. But I found they were very stretchy (the high-rise skinny jeans) and I felt like I should size down one or two sizes because it seemed like they might stretch out…wondering if this is other people's experience with Madewell jeans as well?

I love their bags too…so tempting.

    • April 4, 2018 / 9:30 pm

In my experience Madewell has a few different jean mixes — one is 90% cotton, another is about 70% and one is somewhere between, and as a result they all have various degrees of stretch.
