Enjoyed your "Is Anthro getting cute again" post, Roxy. I'm cautiously optimistic and also fearful since I've saved a lot of money recently and am now finding myself hitting the purchase button with growing frequency. Anthro's not at its full pre-fug levels yet, but it's heading in the right direction. If they finally reject polyester once & for all (except for linings I guess…), I'm all in.

    • March 16, 2018 / 10:58 am

Thanks Soleil! I agree with you, Anthro is missing the great materials they used to make products with. Retailers are in trouble because our main wool producer (Australia/New Zealand) is suffering from farmers changing to dairy because it's more lucrative, which is causing big problems in the supply chain. Silk however is coming down in price as is cotton, so why are we not seeing more of those materials?

By the way, discussion of Anthro's last quarterly earnings call next week.

Hmm…not so sure about silk, prices were up by 30% this year and still climbing!

        • March 16, 2018 / 4:58 pm

Yes you are right! The producers are still charging more but the actual supply chain production issue has been solved…so buyers are overpaying for it right now by market standards. *shrugs*

Looking forward to that post. Apparently there is an Anthro x Nordstrom collab in the near future…interested in hearing more about that!

        • March 19, 2018 / 10:00 am

They didn't talk about it much on the call besides to announce it, but I'll share what info I have! And I agree, it's pretty cool.

I posted the following question earlier but wasn’t applicable to the content so please forgive asking again: would greatly appreciate cosmetic & candle suggestions at Anthro, especially w/ this weekends promo. (Am getting lost in reviews) Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Forgive me as I'm sure this has been asked here before, but can I combine my 15% off birthday discount with this promo? The site doesn't seem to be allowing me to….

Roxy the website lists the Bar Harbor dress at 33.75" . The model in the pictures indicates it is at her knees. Your thoughts as to length? I am hesitant to order as I am tired of inconsistent sizing and having to return, I live 1 hour away from an Anthro store.
thanks in advance for any help

    • March 16, 2018 / 4:14 pm

Mine hasn't arrived yet, but I am 100% sure it's above the knee if you're tall like me.

        March 17, 2018 / 1:20 pm

Also, it looks like it might run large? I am between sizes.

        • March 19, 2018 / 10:00 am

Very possible! Mine is due to arrive today, so I'll come back to report once I have it in-hand. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am going to spend hours perusing the Anthro website tonight figuring out what to buy. Hooooray!

I just bought this necklace which I saw at Free People but was out of stock so I went to the jeweler's site directly. I LOVE it: https://www.wolfcircus.com/collections/necklaces/

    • March 16, 2018 / 7:53 pm

      Very pretty evb!

Yay- snagged a Maeve dress that I've had my eye on.

BTW, Roxy, have you seen/tried on any of the Universal Thread items at Target? I wandered by on my way to the cosmetics and spotted some really cute stuff, but their jeans are fantastic! Got a great pair of high-rise skinnys in a very dark uniform wash for $25!! I'm going back for more next week.

    • March 16, 2018 / 7:54 pm

I've seen some stuff from Universal Thread and I totally agree! I got a cute striped tee shirt and a cocoon cardigan. Very classic stuff that no other retailer seems to want to make. Target is impressing me very much right now.

There is hardly anything interesting at Anthropologie anymore, and the prices are too high for clothing that isn't exceptional in some way. I did order the rochelle buttondown with my last 20% off code, as the strawberry print was cute, but other than that I haven't purchased anything in a long while.

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:01 am

I hear you Lori. Until this latest release I hadn't had ANYTHING on my wishlist for months. Now I've found a lot of cute things but yes it's true that the standard is much lower than it once was.

I bought the essential slim trousers in butterfly print. TTS for me and very soft fabric.

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:01 am

Lovely pickup Heather! I wish they made these trousers in a curvy fit too.

      Nice choices!

I just got the Linen and Leather Booker chair last week. It's lovely but I'm not sure I like it. It's rock hard and too high off the ground. I might have to return it, which is a bummer but comfort > looks in my world.

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:02 am

Hooray for Anthro furniture! I love my Anthro chairs so much…one is still in storage though til we have a bigger place, le sigh.

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:02 am

No, not for the furniture. They charge a delivery fee for that.

I bought my 3rd Saturday Sunday brushed fleece cardigan, they are the best. Otherwise nothing caught my eye. Too lazy to go the store to buy candles and didn't want to buy online due to additive shipping cost (I'm well below the free shipping limit).

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:03 am

Ah that's a bummer Anna, perhaps a free shipping no min promo soon!

Hi everyone:-) Hope you are all doing well!
I snagged a few items recently. I'm still not sure they have righted their ways just yet but I personally can find a few things here and there which is good. Much better than last year, I think.
I ended up with a pop back of a petite size in the Tamera wrap dress..red motif, the Iris Midi Petite dress, a few basic tops/tanks and the Ann Howell Bullard Black Keys Circle bag.

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:03 am

I loooove that circle bag! Cute picks klj1. ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree that Anthro is getting "cute" again but mostly online and I refuse to pay for shipping and duties because I never know how much I am going to get dinged for on that front. I am finding the in-store selection more lackluster than ever. This is good news for my wallet. I only purchased one t-shirt this weekend and, even that, I am on the fence about. I am happy for them that they are bouncing back from their slump.

    • March 19, 2018 / 10:04 am

I can totally understand that lulu. I made the mistake of ordering a purse from Europe once and the duties were so high that I ended up refusing the package and asking a friend who was local to the area to hold it for me either until the next time she came to the USA or the next time I got out there. How do some retailers get dinged for it and others do not?

  13. lulu
    March 19, 2018 / 3:25 pm

Yikes! I wish that Anthro would do the same as Free People where you can opt to pay the duties (I believe it is 18 or 20%) upfront for orders coming to Canada. I have, on occasion, paid almost as much in duties as I have paid for my purchase with Anthro. Once I paid $53 in duties only to find they had sent me the wrong item and I had no way to recoup that without traveling out of town so I just swallowed it.
