Guest Post: The top ways to enjoy a cruise with your kids

This is a guest post! Please join me in welcoming Molly of Stilettos and Diapers!

Hi ladies! My name is Molly and I’m so excited to be here today to talk all about cruising with kids. My blog, Stilettos and Diapers, covers fashion, motherhood and my attempts at mixing the two. I have 3 boys and we love nothing more than to travel together as a family! I’ve about all of our travel adventures and love sharing tips that have made traveling with our boys much easier.

Vacationing anywhere can be a bit daunting once you have kids, but I’m here to tell you that it’s not only possible, but amazing. We’ve been on cross country road trips, trekked to the mountains and had countless trips to beaches. Without question, cruising has been one of my favorites. Cruising isn’t something we attempted until 4 years ago and I don’t know why we waited so long! I consider it the ultimate mom vacation. Why? No cooking, no cleaning, occasional childcare, warm sun and cocktails. Need I say more?

There are a lot of options to consider when booking a cruise. To make the most of your vacation, the ship, the ports and the timing are just as important as what you pack and what time your dinner reservations are. But once you’ve made all your choices, your trip really is a relaxing getaway that completely removes you from the real world. There’s something for everyone to do; from incredible child care programs that our kids begged go to, to fine dining, to dancing the night away. And you can’t forget the broadway style shows for all different ages, movies under the stars and excursions that you’ll never forget. It’s not easy to find a vacation that caters to so many tastes and ages like a cruise does!

You can read all about our cruise experience, my tips for planning your trip and how to make the most of it in the full post on my blog, Stilettos and Diapers.

I've done a couple cruises in my life, but never with kids (as I don't have any). Sure there are pros and cons to both ways.

I have been on a number of cruises with my children over the years and it really is a great vacation for them. My two (a boy and a girl) have very different interests and cruises allow them to do their own things. I think the thing I most underestimated was how they would want to join the kids programs. We work so wanted to spend time with them (and did not plan on using the kids programs much). However, the programs were so great, our two often wanted to go and we realized it was part of their fun. Parents should plan on having a dinner alone (there are evening fun programs also), and many other things. For younger ones, Disney probably is the top for kids programs and the activities for adults are great also (no gambling). Others are also good but Disney is superior.

Are there going to be Anthro posts any time soon?

    • January 27, 2018 / 9:58 am

Hi Michelle, soon but I can't say exactly when. Feel free to use the comments section of any post to discuss any promos you'd like!

I'm currently back and forth to CT to buy my Mom a new home and help her clean out my parents' house. It's taking up most of my time at the moment so I'm not paying as close attention to the promos as I usually do. Part of the goal of Travel Month is to keep fresh content up while I do what I need to do in my personal life to get everything contained. I appreciate everyone's patience. Last weekend I was able to get a promos post up which included Anthropologie, but I'm not sure I'll be able to this weekend. When I have the time to get those posts up I absolutely will. My sis and I are hoping my Mom will choose a new place in the next 3 weeks! But we can't say for sure. I'm just doing the best I can to balance my full-time job, helping Mom out and my passions like the blog. Turns out adulting is hard sometimes!! 🙂

For sure. I check this blog for Anthro updates and was wondering if this was a permanent change. Thanks for letting me know!

It sounds like you had an amazing time with your kids! I unfortunately get sea sick. I hope I overcome this so Nathan can go on cruises in the future!
