Destination Guide: The Vail Valley

This is a guest post! Please join me in welcoming Amanda of Glitter & Spice!

Hey y’all! My name is Amanda from Glitter & Spice, a life and style blog based out of Dallas, Texas. I’m all about feminine fashion and traveling the world – which is why I’m sharing a bit about one of my favorite vacation spots with y’all today.

The Vail Valley is located in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, and is comprised of four resort towns: Vail, Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead. Most people know the Vail Valley as a premiere ski destination… but it also has some of the most gorgeous summers you’ll ever see in your life! Perfect for those of you who aren’t really into the cold, or just really enjoy hiking and biking.

My family has vacationed in the Vail Valley every year since I was a little kid. As a total foodie, I thought I’d share some of my favorite restaurants in Vail with y’all… and some of the local spots you won’t hear about as a tourist!

Mountain Standard in Vail is one of my favorite spots for lunch or dinner. They have a great wine list, an outstanding burger (I also like the meatball sandwich), and, for a small added charge, you can buy the kitchen staff a round of drinks and they’ll ring the bell in your honor. This place does tend to get very packed as it is in the middle of Vail Village, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you’re going during the busy season or with a larger group.

Speaking of places that are good for groups, Golden Eagle Inn is definitely one of my must-visit restaurants in Beaver Creek. My family always pops into Golden Eagle with our friends after we do the Village to Village hike from Bachelor Gulch to Beaver Creek. The salmon sandwich is so good. And so is the curried chicken salad sandwich. While they serve both sweet potato fries and regular fries (and I’m normally a sweet potato fries girl), I recommend going for the regular fries – they’re the best!

Finally, my third spot I’m going to share with y’all today is Ti Amo. Located in Avon in a strip mall, this local spot dishes up some great Italian food and wine in a cozy atmosphere. I always get their artichoke appetizer (highly recommend) and their frutti di mare. But really, everything’s good at Ti Amo… which is why we go back year after year, and often more than once during a trip!
