Don’t get lost in Nordstrom’s new sale markdowns — here are the top picks!

Nordstrom has taken new markdowns in its sale — up to 40% off — and there is so much to dig through! Possibly too much, including lots and lots of Summer leftovers. I’m here to help you through it all, picking out highly-rated items that are Fall and Winter-ready so you’re not losing hours digging through 90+ pages (!!!) of sale items on Nordstrom’s website!

This post has highlights both work and casual-ready, featuring dresses, jeans + pants, skirts, tops, shoes, accessories and outerwear like the perfectly on-trend Varsity Jacket (now $78, above).

Cute prints get the thumbs up for me, and I love the playfulness of the light blue and black Fit & Flare Dress (now $60). Ready for work with a cardigan over it or for a night out, this dress is one of many pretty blue items in Nordies’s sale markdowns. Other blue hues that caught my eye include the lovely ruffled Serra Organza Top (now $237), the sleek keyholed Meeyia Eden Top (now $114) and the highly functional Back Bow Packable Hooded Raincoat (now $130). I also adore this beautifully crafted navy pleated skirt, which has a slit that may make it not work-appropriate for many but is so pretty I really wanted to highlight it anyway.

This dress is quite popular (if its sold out at Nordstrom, it’s also available here), and another popular dress also just hit sale — in one color. It’s the Ruched Body-Con Tank Dress (now $34) and you’ve probably seen it on a million bloggers (myself included!). Now on sale in a foresty green perfect for cooler weather, I’d layer it with a mixed media jacket for casual days and a quilted leather jacket for work days.

One of the few leftovers from Nordstrom’s last round of markdowns that still works for colder weather is the beautiful High Neck Embroidered Midi Dress (now $45, above). I have this dress (size large) and its black on white pattern is stunning, especially under a leather jacket like this one in bordeaux or perhaps this one in green. I get many compliments on the look each time I wear it!

You could also go for a layered look with a cardigan like the Long Ribbed Cashmere Cardigan (now $199 and a great price for good cashmere!) or a sweater with cute details such as the princess-sleeved Floral Jacquard Sweater (now $225).

There are other pretty patterned dresses to take a look at, like the Jersey Shift Dress (now $71) which comes in either a white/black/navy/pink version or a white/black/navy/blue version. This dress layers very well with the Halogen Scallop Edge Sweater (now $40) and nearly perfectly reviewed.

There are so many cute coats in this sale — no matter what your style I’m sure you’ll find something to like! Some of my favorites include the Wool Blend Moto Jacket (now $110) above, a great choice for its wool blend, longer silhouette and easy care factor. The Quilted Coat with Faux Fur Trim Hood (now $200) comes in several colors including a taupe camo and has the right mix of warmth, shape and style. I have many more coats, jackets and vests of all weights among my picks in the shoppable boutique at the bottom of this post.

In tops, I found lots of delights! I’m loving the luxe bordeaux color and side ruching of the Adamaris Shoulder Side Top (now $29), the contrast trim of the long and very layerable Choker V-Neck Sweater (now $54), the lace peeking out of the Fredrika Lace Inset Sweater (now $179) and the many stripes of the Stripe Harlow Cardigan Sweater (now $54).

Then there are tops that play with proportion. I want to wrap myself up in the Ashley Ruffle Bell Sleeve Sweater (now $109) and show off my shoulders in the Chantelle Ruffle Top (now $66).

Below are two shoppable boutiques. First, the best picks from Nordstrom’s fresh clothing cuts, and then right below that, shoes and accessories. Have you made pickups during this sale?

Roxy, it's like you know me. I can and do get lost shopping both in-store and on-line. Too much to look through and I end up overwhelmed, not buying a thing.
Really appreciate your curated list 🙂

Great list! I'm really loving Nordstroms lately….the free ship and free returns makes it so easy to try stuff. I feel like it ships rather quickly as well! 🙂 Thanks for your great list!

Agreed! Although living on the East coast, it sometimes takes stuff forever to get here. Nordies is one of my faves though!

I also find it takes really long for returns to process. I often have to call to follow-up and with nordstrom always have to get a tracking number or they get lost. I do not have that problem with any other retailer.

Hi Roxy, was just wondering if everything's okay with you. There's no new post since almost 10 days now.

    Hi Maya (and Everyone!),

I'm so sorry for the unexplained absence — my Mom has been pretty sick the last two weeks, and understandably wanted a family member close. I've been up at my parents' place for about that length of time and unfortunately the internet here in the woods isn't very good. I have to go into town to respond to work emails and haven't had time to think much about the blog.

The good news is Mom is feeling much better and I'll be heading home to Brooklyn tomorrow. I'll definitely be posting next week, maybe a sale roundup this weekend if I can, I have a gift guide and a bunch of sponsored stuff ready to go — as well as thoughts on Anthro's new stuff and so on. Plenty in the hopper, some written and some not.

So sorry again for going missing, but I miss you all and will be back very soon!!

It's good to know that you are doing okay. Had started to worry a bit. So sorry to hear about your Mom though. Being there with her is the best thing you could do for her. And glad to know she's doing better.

Looking forward to more posts whenever you are ready! Take your time and relax.
