‘Tis the season for 40% off new clothing arrival promotions and the latest to join the fray is J. Crew, using the code YAYCLOTHES. Yay clothes is how I feel every Fall!! And forty percent off certainly helps to stock my closet with pretties. This year J. Crew is offering a lot of cute stuff — and trying to recapture some of their former glory with reissues and reinterpretations of past season items.
They’re also working back into their sweet spot of classic clothing. Modern classic items like the Everyday cashmere crewneck sweater ($98 + 40% off, above) are exactly what I go to J. Crew for! (The jeans are sold out.) It joins highlights like the Harlow cardigan sweater ($98 + 40% off), another classic with a twist in four colors and the Velvet pull-on skirt ($90 + 40% off), a glorious skirt that comes in a warm mustard-gold called ‘vintage gold’ or classic navy.
I’m delighted by many of the classic items with fun accents, including the Regent blazer in plaid with velvet tie ($228 + 40% off, above), one of many waist-tie items J. Crew has right now. Neck ties are also in and beautiful on pieces like the Tweed Lady jacket with ties ($198 + 40% off) and I love it! There are buttons aplenty adorning the Striped button-shoulder turtleneck ($55 + 40% off) or layering piece perfection like the Long-sleeve crewneck T-shirt in slub cotton ($30 + 40% off) in a whole list of colors. I’m also quite happy with the matching set of the Cotton Jackie cardigan sweater (now $50-$60 + 40% off) and the Cotton Jackie shell ($48).
Even J. Crew’s trendier pieces are laying back a bit, a la the lovely Easy sweatshirt ($63 + 40% off, above) that’s joined in comfort and function by pieces including the Cropped sweater-blazer ($119 + 40% off). I think the blazer would look perfect over the Silk ruffle cami in leopard print (now $45) which like many sale items isn’t included the promotion but is still a great price. In try-ons the Pleated tank top (now $23 + 40% off) was a surprising win that would look fantastic over cropped pants or jeans.
The best deals in this promotion may lie in outerwear, where items that hardly ever make it to promo are included in this one. The highlight for me is the Italian double-cloth wool lady day coat with Thinsulate® ($350 + 40% off) — my 2012 version of this coat is still going strong and looks like new! Another item I’m pumped to see included is the Faux-fur vest ($120 + 40% off), which was an insta-sellout last year. If classic is more your style, the Excursion quilted down vest ($120 + 40% off) is also in the promo.
Below, my current J. Crew picks which include items in this promo, on sale and excluded. What’s been good at J. Crew for you recently?
