It’s a saleapalooza weekend!

Everywhere you look this weekend there are some pretty amazing promos happening! The list is exhaustive; the sales are glorious. It’s one of those weekends when I have to pick and choose from all the stuff I want to stay within my monthly shopping budget.

What are your choices? Those peepers you see above all spied Madewell’s extra 30% off sale promo — more on that and many other promotions and sales below.

Anthropologie | Anthropologie is celebrating its birthday with 25% off EVERYTHING. Well, actually not everything. The fine print says “Offer does not apply to full-price BHLDN items, sale furniture, sale found items, previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards. Cannot be combined with other offers.” Ok then. No code required; discount applies at checkout. | Picks: I am very excited for this promotion because I will now take the plunge on the Lillian Column Dress ($658 + 25% off)! I also have my eye on the Timshel Fringed Cardigan ($300 + 25% off) and the Colorblocked Faux Fur Coat ($228 + 25% off).

Here are 25 more picks from the Anthropologie birthday celebration:

Boden | Take 20% off ‘outfit makers’ with the code S7E5. | Picks: You’ll find promo options in every category except dresses for this promotion. I myself love the Maddie Top ($110 + 20% off), the Velvet Martha Top ($150 + 20% off), the absolutely stunning Lorna Velvet Pencil Skirt ($140 + 20% off) and the Richmond Pants ($49-$98, full price colors are 20% off).

Use code DAY04. | Picks: You really can’t go wrong with a closet staple like the Italian double-cloth wool lady day coat with Thinsulate® ($350 + 25% off). I’ve had mine for 5+ years now and it still looks new! I also like the new Field trench coat ($198 + 25% off). Elsewhere, the Tiered bell-sleeve top in drapey crepe ($80 + 20% off) looks promising, and because I adore velvet I also love the Velvet tank top ($78 + 20% off).

LOFT | Take 40% off everything and cardmembers get an extra 10% off select items. Use the code FRIENDS at checkout. | Picks: If you’re looking for a trendy winner I was very pleasantly surprised by the Lou & Grey Fringeout Sweater ($80 + 40% off); if you want a classic I say go for the Long V-Neck Cardigan ($60 + 40% off); the Scroll Lace Mockneck Top ($55 + 40% off) has a very flattering fit and comes in three colors.

More LOFT 40% off options below:

Madewell | As teased at the top of this post, take 30% off sale items with the code GOODLOOKS. | Picks: The Convertible Cold-Shoulder Top in Indigo (now $50 + 30% off) was already a great deal and now with the extra 30% off? It’s pretty amazing. I also own and love the Raw-Hem Wrap Jean Skirt (now $50 + 30% off) and the lightweight Quilted Side-Tie Dress in Moroccan Desert (now $100 + 30% off), which would be ideal for warmer climates. Too bad Anthro didn't do archival collection for it's 25th Anniversary. I'll still probably will buy some accessories from them.

    • October 20, 2017 / 1:39 pm

I'm very surprised they haven't reached back into their archives for another mini collection — the first one did so well!

they are probably too busy designing boxy tops and acrylic sweaters, thinking of new french words to put on $80 t-shirts and sourcing futon mattresses and bath mats for coats
        .

          Ahahahahahahaha, Tanda, that's awesome…

I wonder what the French word for "overpriced" is, and how it would look on an $80 tee shirt.

'Trop cher' — Could totally see them putting that on an $80 tee…

My local store manager said they are going to do an archival collection. We will see if this pans out. They really needed to do it for fall/winter clothing in my opinion.

WOW!! Thank you for heads up. Any detail on when they would release it? I need to set some money aside for that.

I have heard this rumor several times now and at this point I'm pretty skeptical. If it did come to pass yay! But nothing from my home office little blue birdies on it.

They are doing another archival collection! I got an invitation in the mail to a store event, to be held on November 2, to celebrate the 25 years. It says there will be personal styling, beauty services, a DIY project, and "Vote for your favorite archive piece – a beloved few will be back this spring!"

I probably won't go to the event (hard to get out on a "school night," haha) but it's good to hear there is another archival collection in the works. I hope this time they will re-release some of the more iconic old-school Anthro items. The last collection was cool, but I have to say some of the things they chose to bring back were head-scratchers, to me. (I may be in the minority on that, as all of that stuff sold out in a nanosecond).

How come the really good tops I always seem to miss? haha! Oh well, maybe Tracy Reese will come out with a similar one for the holidays:) On a side note, I went for broke literally lol and bought a blue and white checked dress by SSUNG due to the sale and all I can say is that it's worth every penny. It's high quality, fits TTS in my regular 6, a great length, has snap buttons where there might be gaping along with regular buttons, sleeve length is also perfect. I can't say enough great things about it! I love all of her dresses but the prices are keeping me from buying more right now. I highly recommend them though!

Thanks for the reviews Jess. Hmmm a Dress by SSUNG…. how cool. I’m glad u love it and thanks for the review too l. I will check them both out.

            October 24, 2017 / 8:08 pm

It's a pricier line of clothes but the quality is outstanding and purchasing on sale definitely helps:) I saw the dresses at the store when I last visited but didn't have time to try them on so I ordered the one dress and I'm so impressed with it. I just saw how the Cloth & Stone dress is already selling out, I'm kind of shocked because it's so new unless they're using that old sale tactic where it just looks like an item is sold out for a week or so and then they have the sizes available again. I don't know why Anthro does that sometimes but I've seen it enough in the past.

          • Nam
            October 25, 2017 / 1:45 pm

i Think they are going to restock them. Usually they do.

I loved the plaid dress. It’s so stylish :).

I’m so bored with what anthro has on sale. Really need fresh cuts.

            October 25, 2017 / 4:13 pm

Same here! There's just nothing I want in the sale section, the things I wanted I already purchased from a different sale before the current one lol:D

I also like a new jacket from Marrakesh but that one is also already sold out sheesh:O

Honestly, I think I'm going to start Christmas shopping. There's some wall art at Anthro I've been eyeing for months for my sister, and now would be a good time to get it.

I got a postcard from Boden saying 25% off Sunday-Tuesday.

And is it just me or have the sales this fall been dizzying? They're very frequent and very aggressive.

Roxy you mentioned you bought the Asymetrical Turtleneck dress. Could you give me some ideas on how your going to style it for cooler temps. I love the dress but not the arm holes. I have to find something to wear over it. Thanks

    • October 23, 2017 / 11:16 am

Hi Nancy! I did yes. I don't plan to layer over it — the knit is too thick and the neckline in particular is very thick. I suppose you could wear a cardigan over it and leave it open, but I'd do something like fine gauge merino. (Banana Republic has a great option for this — affiliate link: http://shopstyle.it/l/lgUf)

You could also do a blazer over it, this knit blazer would be great (affiliate link): http://shopstyle.it/l/lgTx

I would instead recommend wearing a light long sleeve top underneath it. I'm wearing this J. Crew top — affiliate link: http://shopstyle.it/l/lgUs

This LOFT long-sleeve tee has a light pattern on it and would also work underneath: http://shopstyle.it/l/lgU5 (affiliate link)

      Hope that helps a bit!

Just wanted to add that Free People is having a sale on select dresses for $99.95. Sure, that isn't much of a sale if the original price of a dress is $148, but there are quite a few $200+ dresses and rompers on sale like this one, for instance: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/forenze-midi-dres

Here's the link for the $99.95 dresses: https://www.freepeople.com/dresses-under-100/

Roxy–feel free to change the links. Have a nice weekend, ladies!

Hello ladies! I bought the Printed Silk Maxi Dress ( https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/printed-silk-m… – Roxy, feel free to change the link) during last weekend's promo, so here's my report back in case any of you want to purchase it during this weekend's promo:

Sizing: I am 5'4", 32AA-28-38 (with monkey arms and thunder thighs). I usually wear a 2 or 4 in Anthro dresses depending on the bust:waist ratio. Since this is a maxi dress, and I am borderline petite, I ordered *all the sizes* — 2 and 4 in Regular, and 4 and 6 in Petite (in case the petite sizing was proportionally smaller all around). After an epic try-on session in my bedroom, I decided the 4Reg was the best based on the waist fit — it hit me right at my natural waist with room to breathe/eat a burrito (the 2Reg was definitely too snug around my waist, but was fine everywhere else). The 4Reg bodice was blousy through the chest, but based on the model shot I think that is intentional. The length of the 4Reg was about 1" too long when I was standing barefoot, so I'll have to wear 1.5-2" heels with this.

The two petite sizes I ordered just seemed shorter in the skirt length; they weren't proportionally smaller all around. The bodice lengths of the 4R and 4P were exactly the same, and the 6P was definitely too long for my torso. So if you are a true petite the waistband might hit too low. The length of the petite dresses hit at my anklebone.

(And a general comment about length, my cup size is smaller than industry size standards, so waistlines tend to hit lower on me in general. This dress will be more of an empire waist look on ladies with larger chests.)

The dress is a thin silk crepe that is semi-sheer. It is lined with a light peach polyester layer that is kind of like a fake slip — the skirt is fully lined, the waistband is self-lined with the same printed silk), and the bodice has a spaghetti-strap cami lining that is sewn into the waistband but thread-looped to the shoulders, so you can still get completely tangled up in it when you're putting on the dress. Not that this happened to me….. I kind of wish they just put in a fully detachable slip (for laundry reasons, for skintone reasons, for not-getting-tangled-in-my-dress reasons).

The colors are muted and fairly true to the model shot. The basic placement of the color stripes was the same on the four dresses I ordered, but the actual print placement differed slightly. There's a flower right smack in the center of the skirt on my size 4 that's cut in half by a seam and it's making my eyes twitch to the point that I actually ordered another size 4 hoping for better print placement 😉

Finally, some care notes: this is a handwash item (which I prefer to drycleaning, though I generally handwash my dryclean-only garments anyways…). Silk fibers are weaker when wet, so you're going need to be gentle while washing – don't wring out the water; roll it in a big towel instead. And because a wet dress is a heavy dress, dry it flat instead of hanging it. Also, crepe fabric catches on _e v e r y t h i n g_ so be careful around pokey jewelry, cat claws, velcro, etc.

Hope this helps! I'm glad Anthro actually released a *SILK* dress!

      the. best. review.

Thank you, the details make all the difference.

    • Christina
      October 22, 2017 / 4:24 am

Yes, thank you, emster, for a most excellent review! I agree with everything emster said and just wanted to add a few notes based on my measurements. Since I'm a shortie (5'1", 95 lbs), I ordered the dress in petite sizing (00P). The dress fit true to size for me, but–as emster noted–it's kind of short; even on me, the dress hit right at the ankle. I actually wish it were an inch longer. So, if you are on the taller end of petite, the regular sizing is probably the way to go. Also, the waist on me was more empire waist than not, and I have nowhere near a large bust (32A to be exact), so if you're concerned about waist placement, it's probably best to try the dress on. I agree that it is noteworthy that Anthro made a silk dress available for purchase, but I don't know yet whether I'm going to keep the dress because the colors are more muted than I would have liked.

Has anyone seen a beautiful Sleeping on Snow brown sweater with blue embroidery and beading in their local store? I saw it today and it is lovely. It reminds me of vintage Sleeping on Snow. It buttons all the way up the front, and I feel as though it would look best as a buttoned up cardigan look rather than unbuttoned and layered. However, that is just my opinion. It is not itchy. I left it behind but may go back to get it tomorrow. I bet it hits online right after the 25% goes away.

Hi all! So sorry this week has been absent of posts — my parents' place (where I was last week) has no internet, then my boyfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary, and now I'm at a training class for work this week!

Also agree! This is actually the second time I've ever not been impressed with anything. Usually there's at least one item I'm kind of interested in, so strange what's supposedly in style in Antho's mind at the moment. Fall is when most everything that's new is on my wish list!

Agreed. I'm not even actually wishing for anything on my wishlist anymore. It's more like "I might like this piece if it gets cheap enough." It's so hard to find anything likeable, much less truly desirable.

Exactly. It's like I can just take it or leave it these days. I still find good things but they are few. I found one great dress and pants and only bought on sale. I won't pay full price for anything anymore like I used to when I felt super excited about something. I miss that feeling!

    Hi fellow Anthro lovers,

I'm wondering if any of you have seen the Bothwell lamp in mint (with birds on it) in your local store? It's completely sold out and I am majorly regretting not getting it and now it's all I can think about.

    Thank you!

    Laura

Wowza, The new arrivals for clothing at Anthro are head scratchers. That is a nice way of putting it. A lot of it is just plain ugly (the not so nice way of putting it). It's like, take the results of the survey, and then do the complete opposite of what your customers are asking you to do. I am thinking that it just HAS to be the people in charge of calling the shots with the fashion over at Anthro. I think they need to clean house and replace them with people who have some vision and who GET IT! Some of these fashions look like cheap, trendy knock offs, others look like Chico's, others look like waaaayyyy too early resort wear, and finally some look like just slap some fur or pearls on it and it will sell. I just don't understand Anthro! Please, we are ALL waiting for you to do better!!!

It's the first time in years that I went through all the new arrival pages and didn't add single one in my wish list

Yikes, who the heck wants to walk around looking like an imitation of big bird? No sale.

I think it's the styling too. The models look dizzy and bored. There's no "story" to the clothing. Just no enchantment.

The burrito wrap dress made me laugh.
      Now a vent 🙁 :
Does anybody remember those henleys with floral trim that Anthro were re-issuing every year and stopped a couple years ago? I think they were $58 a piece and made out of cotton. I'm pretty sure they had plenty of follower. They were sold at every store in several colorways and only a few lived to sale. Recently the last one I had developed a hole from too many washes. Naturally I looked for a replacement at Anthro web-site and the only one that comes close in looks is this poly henley at $100 https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/buttoned-henle

FYI, ladies–Anthro's sale is now 40% off. Perhaps browsing the sale section is an antidote to the disappointment of the new arrivals pages?

I was able to get a PA on a cardigan, but otherwise the sale is fairly uninspiring. Maybe there will be popbacks.

if it helps at all, I bought that shirt and returned it. Boxy, shapeless, short.
