Madewell started a free loyalty program called Insiders about a year ago — if you love Madewell yet you’re not a member, you should be! Especially now because this weekend Insiders get 15% off their Madewell purchases, and depending on your spending level you can get free shipping all the way up to expedited.
This promo could not have come at a better time for me, as I look to my Fall closet and see plenty of holes I’d like to fill with new delights. Tops on my list at Madewell is the Embroidered Breeze Dress ($110 + 15% off), seen above with part of the Treasure Pendant Necklace Set ($48 + 15% off) and the Ciao Necklace ($32 + 15% off).
There is so much good stuff at Madewell right now. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Madewell specializes in small, subtle details that are at home in any closet. I love how easy their clothing is to mix and match with other brands and I like their simple, mostly neutral color palettes. Though their items can at times be boxy I find many of their items surprisingly more flattering in person than they look on the website.
The Silk Button-Down Cami ($75 + 15% off) looks good in the photo above for example, but on the product page you’d never know how cute it is! Their choice of gamine styling on their product pages is not really my jam. So it goes with many of Madewell’s items — I usually start with a visit to the store to try stuff on to see how cute it is and then place my orders online. The cami is shown above with the same Treasure Pendant Necklace Set ($48 + 15% off) and the Ciao Necklace ($32 + 15% off) combination as the post-topping photo, along with the Langford Wide-Leg Crop Pants in Light Latte ($68 + 15% off).
Speaking of pants, Madewell has great bottoms. Their jeans are excellent and lately they’ve been moving towards denim with less stretch and spandex in it. This is a welcome update but for curvy gals like me often requires sizing up to fit over my hips — it’s not unusual for me to take a 33 in Madewell’s jeans when that size is available to clear my hips, even though my waist is actually 29″. But fit matters over sizing!
A particularly great pair of jeans for us curvy gals is the 9″ High-Rise Skinny Jeans in Winifred Wash: Drop-Hem Edition (now $90 + 15% off). You can see them on one of my favorite bloggers, Rynetta, here. These jeans are exceptionally slimming and flattering and have very little stretch. I tried on a 32 in them and plan to purchase them during this promo. Another pair of jeans that I found very flattering are the Cali Demi-Boot Jeans in Pure White: Distressed Edition (now $80 + 15% off), which you can see on me here. These jeans have a lot of stretch in them — I went down to a 30 in them.
I have more pants and denim picks in the boutique at the bottom of the post. If you need fit guidance ask away in the comments!
Madewell does casual very well. I like how they offer ideas both sporty and preppy, ideas to dress fancy items down and make casual items more fancy. The look above features multiple items on my Madewell wishlist including the Striped Wrap-Tie Skirt ($85 + 15% off) and the Madewell x Tretorn® Nylite Plus Sneakers in Velvet ($85 and excluded from the promo, sadly). Another look at the sneakers is below.
This look also includes the Whisper Cotton Ringer Tee in Stripe ($25 + 15% off) and the Face It Charm Lariat Necklace ($48 + 15% off).
Here’s a closer look at those Madewell x Tretorn® Nylite Plus Sneakers in Velvet ($85, excluded). I’m loving velvet sneakers for Fall, and I’m also loving so many of Madewell’s shoe choices! Another velvet pair that has me drooling is the Converse® Chuck Taylor All Star High-Top Sneakers in Velvet ($65, excluded) which comes in black or pink.
Non-excluded shoe picks? Oh yes, I’ve got plenty of those too! Topping that list is the Ella Pump ($128 + 15% off) which comes in pink, black or green and I would love to call all three colors my own. The Arielle d’Orsay Flat is beautiful in both suede ($98 + 15% off) and leather ($98 + 15% off, I disagree totally with the lone review). If you’re looking for a new pair of booties, the Brenner Boot in Leather ($210) is pricey but one of the most beautiful pairs of boots I’ve ever tried on. They have ideal proportions and are comfortable on.
This outfit has fun written all over it, doesn’t it? It’s the first of three outfits in this post in a row to feature the Short-Sleeve Mini Dress in Lawton Stripe ($88 + 15%), shown here with the Side-Zip Bomber Jacket ($128 + 15% off), the Athens Cat-Eye Sunglasses ($65 + 15% off) and the Adidas® SuperstarTM Pro Model High-Top Sneakers ($90, excluded).
Next up, Madewell challenges me for layering superiority by showing the Short-Sleeve Mini Dress in Lawton Stripe ($88 + 15%) under the Oversized Jean Jacket in Marvin Wash ($128 + 15% off) and the Chambray Ex-Boyfriend Shirt in Buckley Wash ($72 + 15% off), along with the Silk Bandana ($25 + 15% off).
This dress would also look amazing with the Washed Leather Motorcycle Jacket ($498 + 15% off), which you can see on me here and here. I took a large in the jacket.
And finally, the Short-Sleeve Mini Dress in Lawton Stripe ($88 + 15%) gets paired with the Oversized Jean Jacket in Capstone Wash ($128). I also really like the Jean Jacket in Pinter Wash ($118 + 15% off) and the gorgeous Madewell x B SidesTM Oversized Jean Jacket: Bandana Edition ($225, excluded). Madewell’s collaborations are very exciting right now and it’s too bad so much of it is excluded from the promotion.
Although excluded from the promotion and quickly selling out, I do want to mention the Karen Walker x Madewell items, like the gorgeous Pre-Order Karen Walker® Silk Loretta Dress ($470, above) and the Karen Walker® Silk Unicorn Whisperer Dress ($535). Such beautiful pieces! Brilliant selections by Madewell.
Another area Madewell has plentiful brilliant selections is its bags. I adore the new Small Transport Crossbody ($128 + 15% off, above) almost as much as the Medium Transport Tote ($158 + 15% off) or the Transport Crossbody ($148). For travel it’s hard to beat the Transport Weekender (now $270 + 15% off), and for nights out or simple days I adore the Small Zip Pouch ($23), which also comes in a mini version. For sizing reference, here’s one of Madewell’s previous Small Zip Pouches in an OOTD.
Let’s round out this post with a few more picks. Above, the Side-Zip Bomber Jacket ($128 + 15% off) featured in another look further up in the post is paired with the very cute yet a little short Gingham Ruffle Dress ($98 + 15% off). Beyond this gingham beauty, my favorite Madewell dresses of the moment are the Silk Poppy Dress in Cactus Flower ($148 + 15% off), the ultra-flattering Wrap-Front Mini Dress in Seattle Floral ($148 + 15% off) and the Deep-V Maxi Dress in Woodcut Floral ($158 + 15% off). The Triangle Jacquard Shift Dress (now $100 + 15% off) is fall-ready and looks great with a jacket layered over it (like this one as an idea).
Below you’ll find picks in every category from dresses to jewelry, denim to sunnies and everything in-between. What will you use your Madewell Insiders 15% off promo discount on?
Why does everything I like at madewell cost more than $400?
Those Karen Walker dresses are TDF.

Trust me I feel your pain. I have gotten such great steals there though (t shirts and tops for $10!) that I feel like it all balances out. Though of course I wouldn't be at all upset if they decided to lower prices.
The washed leather jackets are expensive but rarely go on sale so I may need to get a second color with the 15% off!!!! And back to school jeans for my daughter probably (I have enough of those right now!)

Both colors are so great! I have a different black jacket that's faux leather, but it's very tempting.
Love that blush jacket, so cute!
Author
Agreed, it could go with so much!
So many great items! Thanks for sharing.

I agree, Madewell is killing it in their dress department right now.
The sale is amazing.. but everything I want is still sooo expensive!! Let's see if my heart can outweigh my mind…
Author
Ha! A lot of times I'll make myself a big wishlist, and then wait a few days and come back to it to see what I still want badly and which impulses have faded. Sometimes it's just as much fun as buying stuff is for me.
That mini dress is adorable!!!

It is too cute!
those velvet sneakers are so cute!

I agree, maybe not practical but very very cute.
So many nice dresses and outfits from Madewell! It's hard to pick a favorite!
Author
100% agree.
I may buy a new pair of bass wejuns penny loafers. I wore bass through my college years and a few years ago purchased the black/white pair from madewell. Another item that never goes on sale and 15% off for a new pair is welcome!

Bass is a favorite brand, on childhood trips to Cape Cod we used to make a stop at the Bass outlet on the way. These days the most on-the-way Bass for us is in the Hamptons where you can walk out with about 10 pairs of shoes if you're not careful. Their promos are so good!
I love all of these pieces! So cute!
