The best of what’s new at Anthropologie right now

We’re trickling towards the end of Summer in the retail world and Anthropologie is dripping out its last warmest-weather pieces, as well as some hints of what might lie ahead. Here’s what’s new to my wishlist today.

Anthro is taking some swings for the fences with multiple items in one trend. Take gingham for example, which you’ll find in pieces like the pretty Presley Eyelet Top ($118, above), which looks promising though more shape would be nice, and the Ruffled Gingham Top ($88) on which I adore the sleeves and question the high neckline. It’s not new yet I’m first noticing the highly-rated Ruched Gingham Dress ($138) now as well as the likely way-too-short-for-me Ruffled Gingham Mini Skirt ($88) that looks to be 19 inches in Anthropologie’s dreams! It’s too bad and I may have to pout about it because it looks so cute! How about a 22 inch version, Anthro?

The fantastic ruffles on the mini skirt have me intrigued, as do other intricate details like the ties on the admittedly pricey Daelen Tie-Back Top ($328) — there’s also a budget version — or the multi-sized and toned beads on the Eloise Choker Necklace ($158). I’m also totally squeeing over the Ruffled Button Top ($78), which looks like a slightly subdued remake of one of my all-time favorite Anthropologie tops. IT HAD BETTER BE AWESOME.

Surely some sections still need work, such as the, ahem, “Summer Sweater Section” which features exactly ONE practical item — the awesome Ribbed Sleeve Cardigan ($38) — over two entire pages. Not one single cardigan with buttons. Not a single yarn knit lacy cardigan either. But plenty of fringe and tie-dye! The skirt section is a similar yukfest, or should I say yuckfest of cute too-short minis or ugly too-big midis. Hopefully these two sections shape up better next month.

And could it be that dresses are turning a corner? I’m withholding judgement, as there are not yet enough fit and flares to satisfy me, but absent that necessity there are some pretty frocks like the lovely Rosa Embroidered Swing Dress ($188, above)! Love the navy and white combo, and the swingy style works with a print like this. (Please though Anthropologie, we don’t need 91 swing dresses. One or two will do just fine.) Would it be too much to wear this dress with the Dusk Blossom Drop Earrings ($48)? How about that stunning Kensington Garden Dress ($258)? YUM.

On the casual side I find my attention pulled to the Mattie Yarn-Dyed Tunic Dress ($158) which looks perfect for fighting humidity in style. Ditto the Kennedy Silk Dress ($198), a colorful and cheerful wrap dress that steals attention in all the best ways. I think it’s quite telling, however, that “work” is not one of Anthro’s dress categories right now. Occasion + cocktail? Way overdone.

I’m pleased to see the Gardenia Lace Column Dress ($168) is available in new colors — my usual shift size 10 worked great in this one. I’m looking for the right dress to wear the Baby Archer Wrap Belt ($138) with and the column dress was almost it. For now, the hunt continues.

Below, some of my picks from the newest and the recently new. What’s good at Anthro for you?

I have the summer breeze dress in the black and yellow color. I don't think the anthro model does it justice. It looks so much cuter on then on the hanger. The sales associate at my store had it on so I tried it on and loved it. My first anthro purchase in over a year. It cinches my waist and makes my boobs look good (34D). I did go up one size though

    Welcome back, Roxy 🙂

How could I have missed the pure COTTON Rosa embroidered swing dress? Oh, the website, of course.

I wonder why they don't also make a version as a fit-and-flare or some other shape to flatter other figures? Wishlisted anyhow, in case a petite pops back.

    Thank you!

      Thank you!

Yes I wish there was a fit and flare version also.

Love the rosa embroidered swing dress. Unfortunately it was sold out in my size. I wonder if they will ever restock it.

I'm hard to please and haven't been happy with much at the store lately. However, I bought the Rosa dress and it is absolutely gorgeous! One of the most flattering items I have ever purchased there.

Some cute things are trickling in on the website, such as the Pleat sleeve pullover, nina ruffle pullover, circle knit cardigan, balloon sleeve pullover, butchart printed tee, and lianne ruffle top. However every single one of these is an "ONLINE EXCLUSIVE". I'm not sure if my store will get these in eventually or if they really are online only, but I think this is a poor move. I don't want to place a $500 order just to see which of these is really worth a full price purchase. Anyway, I'm excited about a few things anyway.
I went to my store yesterday to browse during the 20% off FP. I was disappointed with the clothing selection in store and couldn't find a thing. I DID buy some beautiful silk bandanas with the promo. Since I don't need much clothing, these will be great to update what I already own. Highly recommend. https://www.anthropologie.com/bandana-scarves
