I’m in love with so many of the color combinations Madewell is carrying this Spring, which make dressing for days both warm and chilly easy and effortless…
As much as I am enjoying seeing all the summery looks on Instagram, here in Manhattan things are still pretty cold most days. I feel like red is an ideal color for Spring days when the temperatures are down in the 50s, don’t you? It has a nice mix of cheery and yet also subdued to it. The Posy Ruffle Dress ($158) has a certain 90s vibe to it — I could see this being right at home on Angela from “My So-Called Life,” a seminal TV show from my pre-teen years, but it also’s updated enough that a few friends reported seeing it at Coachella this past weekend too. It’s short on me at 5’8″ but still completely wearable, especially with tights underneath.
I’m having tons of fun too with my Madewell moto jacket, which you can also see on me here. With its soft buttery leather it’s less stiff than my other moto jackets making it ideal for Spring days. I am kind of secretly wishing for a few more chilly weeks so I can get the most wear out of it possible before it’s time to pack it away for the Summer!
This is the kind of outfit I can wear to work, around the Farmer’s Market, or any other untold number of goings-on. It has all the things I look for in an everyday look: cute details, a bit of flowiness, great fit and feels good on!
The title of this post comes from the bike riding messenger you can see of the background of the top photo, who gave me those words of encouragement while Bekka and I shot this outfit. Gotta love NYC, and especially popular public spots like Union Square!
You can see more Madewell OOTDs: 1 | 2 | 3 and one more coming Friday!
See the boots on me: 1 | 2 | 3
Mehh….
A few pieces of drab clothing interspersed among lanterns and incense sticks?!
I went to the store this weekend after a long time because of the 20% and I only got a lipstick. I really wish they would get their act together. I miss the type of clothing that only Anthro can create.
This preshop is nonsensical and I can only hope that it was curated electronically.
On another note, I just put 10 items in my cart (none from this preshop) and I feel like Anthro is calling me back again. Im quite surprised.
I thought this was another horrible pre shop. Why can't we have pretty spring clothes? Why does everything have to be for the beach?! I'm sick of that theme! I live nowhere near a beach and I am not planning on visiting one. Am I the only one?
I completely agree. I actually live right on the beach, but it is on the Great Lakes, so our stroll along it last weekend included taking pictures of ice formations. I'm pretty sure I wore waterproof boots and a coat. Even when it warms up here I'm not looking for beach wear, just pretty spring clothes for work. Once summer comes around I'll think about beach wear, but honestly it will be shorts and a tee, and nothing Anthroesque.
Anyway, not liking this first dibs, but there are other things I'm slowly adding to my wishlist.
I'm kind of loving the Daytrip Jumpsuit: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/daytrip-jumpsu…
They remind me of a pair of amazing pants I got while on a trip to Bali last spring….
I am also pretty pleased with the price points. It's almost like they figured out no one was willing to pay $228 for light-wight fabrics. I might not even wait for some items to go on sale (YAY!!)
Hideous.
Stuff is showing up at 15% off in my cart…???
The Anthro Day 20% is still showing up in mine.
Same 🙂
No the math is wrong… items are not down to 20% off though. They are at 15%.
Hmmmmm… I am intrigued by the Striped Linen Wide-Legs. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/striped-linen-…
But, I am about to lose my mind over the off the shoulder trend. When will it go away?!!!
YES! I am about to lose mine as well over it…ugh.
Another month of “nothing for me” at Anthro. I have not liked the styles or fabric patterns for nearly a year at Anthro.
Agreed. Have you seen the Madewell dress that is all cotton with embroidery? I can't quite tell the shape from the pics, but may try to seek it out.
https://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/DRESSE…
The cotton Lacausa Audra midi dress looks a lot like last year's popular T-back midi dress: https://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/DRESSE…
“The pattern placement on this top is most unfortunate: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/beachcomber-wi…
Hahahahahahahahaha. It looks like she forgot her support bra. Unfortunate indeed!
Finally a dress I like https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/mira-off-the-s… sad about the price though, I want my dresses to be under $200
That dress is absolutely gorgeous! It looks like the shoulders can be brought up as well and that's a lot of embroidery on a nice cotton dress (even the lining is cotton!). Also, true about the price points for so many dresses.
Pilcro has a cute pair of new white jeans with some really pretty lace embroidery at the bottoms called the Stet Mid-Rise Embroidered Cropped Jeans. I like a few cropped jeans myself because I'm so short and mostly for Spring/Summer time otherwise in the Winter it's too darned cold for them.
I did not see anything in the Antro preview that interests me and some of it is just bizzare. I went to the store recently and there were too many overalls some over $200. I did buy a sale candle.
I received Sundance's Spring catalog in the mail yesterday and the shots are lovely. Nothing I need but certainly some nice things. I have only bought four items there-all on sale and excellent quality and natural fabrics.
Check out this photo-dress would not work for many with just two sizes but Italian and silk at a good price point. <a href="http://www.sundancecatalog.com/product/whisper+of+romance+dress.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=" target="_blank"> <a href="http:// <a href="http://;http://www.sundancecatalog.com/product/whisper+of…“” target=”_blank”>;http://www.sundancecatalog.com/product/whisper+of…“ target=”_blank”> <a href="http://;http://www.sundancecatalog.com/product/whisper+of…” target=”_blank”>;http://www.sundancecatalog.com/product/whisper+of…
The new Sundance catalogue is a work of art. So many things that I love!
Does anyone have any feelings either way about this Floreat Midi Dress?
I think the colors are so pretty. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/henrie-midi-dr…
It's very pretty.
I think it's very pretty…too bad it's rayon
If you think Anthro's crop tops are bad, check out this one from Urban Outfitters http://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/fashion/…
LOL Teen Vogue called it a $16 bib http://www.teenvogue.com/story/urban-outfitters-e…
Sale is now 25% off
Dear Anthro,
You finally did it: the colour combos, the fit, AND the prints are all horrid in your clothing. Usually one of the three is off, but now it's all the above! Groan. It look like Rainbow brite's school trip to the 90s.
I was a dedicated raver in the 90s and this stuff does not do the era an favours. At least throw in some Adidas tracksuits and Hello Kitty baby tees into the mix, if that's what you're channeling.
PS Anthro – Most of the jumpsuits could've made lovely dresses, just saying.
Still rooting for you. You'll do better next time 🙂
Love, Amles xoxo
That is an awesome winter causal look! I am loving your jacket – so cute 🙂

Thank you Anne. 🙂
I'm loving the color of this jacket! How versatile for Spring or Fall!
Lovely jacket Roxy. Ur good with jackets. Loved ur pink one too??
I love that dress too. Cute print.
Wanted to share with everyone
I love my purchase from Sundance Catalog. Angel Tank (it's so pretty on. Fits like a glove), honey blossom top ( so pretty in person love the color combo) and floating clouds top ( can't stop myself if it's white and Lacey). Spent some money but happy with every penny I spent 🙂
My kind of style! I love layering. That cute dress could work for many seasons. The jacket matches my hair, at least today. Those booties are adorable but in Texas we are already in sandals and peep toes!
I just discovered my Madewell Store here in St. Louis. That jacket and dress are beautiful. I am in love with your booties, too.

How fun to have a Madewell so close by!! It is one of my favorite stores.
I stopped by Madewell yesterday and wanted just about everything I saw. So of course I left with nothing since I couldn't decide. lololol
I've never shopped at Madewell but love the cute items they have! Such a fun dress that can be dressed up or down perfect for any season!

My sister would buy every single piece of clothing at Madewell if she could. She loves that place. I've never gone shopping there before! I should check it out! 🙂

I'm totally with your sis! It's well worth a visit.
The outfit looks great! I would enjoy wearing something like this. I think it would be good down here in the south where it is a little bit warmer than up north. Today would be a perfect day for it.
Author
Agreed, and since it is layered the dress could also work on its own.
That's the perfect outfit for any place! I love that jacket too
Author
Thank you Breena!

I think that leather jacket is gorgeous! I love the maroon color, perfect for any time of year!

Thanks Jennifer!!
I used to love My So-Called Life. I can absolutely see how that dress would be something Angela would were. It's kind a fun 90s vibe to it.
Author
Yes, you get it!!
This is my favourite outfit, but I always wear black jacket. I think that I will have to try this color as well!!!
Author
Sometimes it's fun to break out of our habits and try something new. 🙂
I'm loving that dress. It's great for Spring and you can dress it up or down.
Author
Very well said, that's exactly how I feel.
This is a cute look! For work or even a night out! The jacket is cute and goes perfect with the dress!

Totally Cindy, it was hard to choose a color, since I already have a black jacket the bordeaux seemed like the right color here.
I love this outfit, specifically your jacket. Love the tights with it too!
That is such a cute dress! Very swingy! I love how with the jacket it's perfect for colder days, but take it off and it's the ideal spring outfit!
This is such a cute look! I love the combo of fall and spring here with the floral and the leather jacket. Looks great girl!! Madewell is a really great brand.
Love the style! This is definitely something I could wear! I will try to recreate it for sureeee!
