Have you checked out Banana Republic lately? If not, now is a really good time to because it’s Friends & Family time! This deal is amazing too — take 50% off up to 5 items!!! Use the code BRFAMILY.
Want to know how to save an additional 10%? That information awaits inside, along with a ton of suggestions on what to pick as your 5 50% off items…
Banana Republic is struggling to come back from rampant quality issues and designs that didn’t resonate with customers. Recently I’ve been delighted by some of their new releases — especially in their BR Classic section.
If you’re a BR cardholder you may want to dust off that card — cardholders get an extra 10% off right now with the code BRCARD.
With such a great promo, what should one get? Remember that up to 5 of these items can be 50% off! I’ve got tons of good ideas:
1 | The Merino Scallop Crew Pullover ($68) is a perfect transitional piece. I own it in three colors now (the light blue, navy and neon pink). They’re great layering pieces that wash well!
2 | A similarly lovely piece is the Merino Vee Pullover ($78) which I want in the new stem green color. I adore the cuff button accents.
3 | The Merino Ribbed Pointelle Cardigan ($78) is another wool winner. I’m partial to that light pastel yellow color.
4 | Merino also does Spring! By way of the cute Merino Sweater Tank ($48).
5 | Looking for a suit that’s on-trend? I can’t help but love this blue camo One Button Blazer ($198)…
6 | …which has matching pants! You can down down the camo feel by pairing it with a sleek cami.
7 | Another piece I love for the work is the Sateen Crossover Pencil Skirt ($78), which would pair well with so many blouse colors.
8 | I’m a fan of the Milano Sweater Skirt ($78) too, especially the green.
9 | The Diamond Eyelet Midi Skirt ($128) is nearly sold out but I expect it will pop back (and may be stocked in your local store).
10 | The High-Waisted Lightweight Wool Pencil Skirt ($98) is easy to wear, a great material and doesn’t cut into my belly.
11 | BR also has tons of cute pants right now. Let’s start with the Ryan-Fit Floral Sateen Pant ($98)!
12 | I wouldn’t expect BR to be the ones to nail this but they got the Avery-Fit Tie Stripe Pant ($98) just right.
13 | The Avery-Fit Dot Jacquard Crop ($98) are cut perfectly at the bottom whether you’re short or tall. But they are narrow through the hips so curvy girls like me will want to size up!
14 | A more universally flattering pant is the Sloan-Fit Skinny Ankle Floral Pant ($98).
15 | They may be too high rise for shorter gals, but I love love my Zero Gravity Gray High-Rise Skinny Jean ($98).
16 | The Stay White Fray Cuff Girlfriend Jean ($98) run at least a size smaller than most BR jeans, but finding the right fit is worth it for this pair of thick, white denim!
17 | I reject most wide legs yet the Heritage Wide-Leg Crop Pant ($120) are very appealing to me.
18 | My love of all things gingham continues with the Easy Care Gingham Cami ($50).
19 | Cute eyelet pindots and a J.Crew-circa-2008 feel make me love the Riley-Fit Sleeveless Dot Print Ruffle Shirt ($68)! I found this top to run super narrow through the hips, pushing me all the way up from a 6 to a 10!
20 | A subtle ruffle placket and layering prowess make the Riley-Fit Asymmetrical Ruffle Placket Shirt ($68) a better than usual oxford shirt.
21 | Scallops made an appearance in sweaters in item #1 of this list and now they’re back on the lovely Riley-Fit Stripe Scallop Shirt ($68).
22 | Hourglasses rejoice at the Short-Sleeve Ruffle Wrap Top ($78)!
23 | Dark colors and an oversized yoke ruffle lend the Floral Embroidered Flutter Blouse ($88) a dramatic vibe.
24 | The Plaid A-line Slip Dress ($148) is the kind of ultra-flattering dress every girl needs in her closet.
25 | The Geo Lace Dress ($138) takes one pattern and makes it look like at least 4 cohesively thanks to shadow, bias and a beautifully defined waist.
26 | Pink or yellow? How about both colors of the Easy Care Ruched-Yoke Top ($78)?
27 | I just adore the collar of the Pleated Hem Button Up Top ($88).
28 | The Paillette Embellished Top ($68) has a very Audrey Hepburn vibe to me. I like it!!
29 | Colors and shine combine in the Easy Care Crepe Vee Cami ($50). Oh that yellow!
30 | Ruffles on jackets? Yes please!!
Next we’ll discuss accessories in this promo, and there are many beautiful ones! Have you shopped the Banana Republic Friends and Family sale yet?
I had not shopped at BR for several years (minus clothing for my husband). Recently (like in the last 2 weeks) I have purchased 3 tops that I am loving!
The Bow-tie cuff blouse (now sold out, but it's gorgeous. Almost a pale blush blouse, slight v-neck slit, with adorable ties around the wrist.
Flutter Sleeve Jacquard Top (would have never ever picked this based on the model photo, but saw it on another blogger). I was still skeptical, but it's perfect! I purchased in white. http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?c…
Lastly, I just purchased Asymmetrical Ruffle Tank as it has really great reviews. I'm currently waiting for it to arrive, but it looks promising. http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?p…

Very cute picks Christy!
Thanks for the tip! I dropped in today during my lunch hour and was pleasantly surprised by the selection plus 30% off sale. I will have to go back later this evening or weekend for a fitting session. One annoying thing is that the online prices tends to vary from the store price making it so that I have to go back in for the best price on my purchase.

That's so great that you found a lot to choose from! I generally find their stores to be well stocked whether I'm in NYC or far flung in suburbia.
Yes, the pricing games are annoying but I've never had an issue getting a PA either way (online or in-store).
I know this comment is unrelated to this post but here is something for a 'anthro-shopper-laugh'. To laugh or to cry is the question. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/crocheted-dot-….
LOL I had wishlisted that to post on the next Anthro thread. It's ghastly!

What are you talking about? I bought 4!!! 😉
Groovy!
Thanks for putting BR back on my radar, Roxy. I picked up this sweater, which is soooo soft and flattering http://bit.ly/2n4LM53 and also a top that doesn’t appear to be online yet. It’s a thck knit, in a black and white stripe tha can be worn cap-sleeved or OTS. It also has a pretty scalloped hem. It was only $20 with the promo!

Oh I do love that sweater Anthropolitan! It's lovely.
I have my eye on a few things! The Belted Gingham Dress has my interest peaked and also the Maxi Cloud Cover Up, which isn't a dress, but is included in the promo. Decisions!
Author
I know that feeling! Sometimes I find that walking away from the laptop helps and after an hour or so it's clear to me.
I ordered the Belted Gingham Dress in the last promo. It runs a little big…..I am 5'4 and went with a petite–which I am so glad I did as the regular size would not have worked. I had to tighten the belt pretty tight as I wanted more of a defined waist, so not sure it looks right having the excess belt hanging down? I am really thinking I will keep the dress as it is really cute and the fabric is nice and I love gingham 🙂

That's so weird, it must have literally sold out from online while I was writing this post. o.O
It was there when I was writing the post:

Weird! I have no idea why, and that change went into effect after 1 PM ET…why hide stuff??? Although sometimes I have noticed an issue with new items — they show up for about a day, then disappear for about a week from the site before re-appearing. The same thing happens on J.Crew's site (which given their recent struggles doesn't seem like the ideal strategy to copy…?).
I don't get it, I can't imagine it helps revenue either.

I changed this to an affiliate link since I mentioned this dress in the post. 🙂 I don't know why, but probably for the best angles to make it look good.
thanks Miss Roxy 🙂
So it isn't just me who suspects Anthropologie has done this for promos. I was eyeing a $268 dress before the 'take $20 off for every $100 you spend' promo over the weekend, but it disappeared overnight. Of course, it may have sold out, but in every size, both regular and petite? Hmmm…
I've seen quite a few things vanish and reappear. I'm sure they are plucking things off-site for promos.
Yup and JCrew does the same thing. It's almost like they allow so many at the promo price and when they reach whatever that magic number is they pull it from the site only to have a full size run re-appear after the promo ends. It's totally annoying.
I thought I was going nuts! I wanted to order the new Audra dress in that gorgeous cobalt blue but it disappeared (fiddlesticks strikes again). It was there the other night…before the promo struck. This is not cool…
I ordered the Audra in blue with the $20 off $100 promo (remember it was the promo 5 minutes ago 🙂 ?) and I'll review it when I get it. I ordered down a size and am worrying I made a mistake. I just thought if it was loose at all on the bust it could be a major mishap…
We'll see!
I would love to hear your review! I thought it looked quite large so sizing down seems a good idea. Assuming the dress ever comes online again… 😉
Mira off the shoulder dress has also disappeared. Either sold out or hidden until 25% off is over.

Cute!! Love the back.
I am going to try the Voila Kimono dress here.. i missed an earlier version of this dress in lighter colors but actually this one looks prettier to me. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/viola-kimono-d…. Anyone had the previous version of this dress?
OT- But any scoop on if the new NYC store opening this Friday will have any special promos for opening day/ weekend? I am planning to go on Saturday morning, already, but maybe a trip on Friday night as well if any special promos!
Author
They don't typically do any promos for opening weekend beyond whatever Anthro is doing in general, nothing special at the Westport Anthro & Co store which opened last week for instance.
Krish- That sounds lovely. Did you buy the Joss in the regular or petite. I ordered the regular even though I am petite. It lists petite sizing on the website but there are none to order from. At 5 feet, some dresses do work for me in regular but not all. Do you have any idea if this is on the shorter or longer side?
Love it! But will wait for sale. Not getting suckered into a promo!
Author
Maybe time to add a candle to your order? 🙂
I disagree with you about Anthro's current tops. In my opinion they could not be more hideous right now for the most part.
Author
I didn't say I loved all the tops, LOL. Just that there are more tops than dresses that I'm interested in right now. 🙂
And while we're ragging on some of Anthro's offerings, here's another:
This poor model has a bad attack of 'Jumpsuit Wedgie' a uniquely uncomfortable condition… https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/cascada-jumpsu…
Lord! Haha!
Thank you for sharing 🙂 I received it today! It is just fabulous! What a great fit and design and structure. The length is just right for me to wear to work or play-the neck line is a bit too long so will need some extra cover. Certainly a steal with the promo(which I will be price adjusting) and they are already completely sold out too! I hope they make more of these in different colors.
I have the Joss from winter too and just love it. I so wanted the new color, but waited too long thinking I didn't need both–and now sold out in my size 😉 It is definitely a winner. I am 5'4 and went with the regular length and it is perfect!
Not a dress…but I tried the Lotus Printed Shorts today and they are just darling and fit very TTS and are flattering! The colors are more muted in person, which I preferred. Comfortable fabric too!!
