Investigating Sundance Catalog’s newest arrivals…

The Elettra Tee ($78).
With: Necklace (I LOVE this!) | Bracelet | Ring | Earrings

Since my move from Manhattan to Brooklyn there’s been one catalog noticeably missing from my mailbox: Sundance Catalog! It took a little while to get everything sorted out, but finally the latest Spring arrivals mailer was in my box this past weekend. And I’m so glad because I feel like I’d been missing out on their beautiful new arrivals.

There are so many things I love about Sundance Catalog, too many to name really. But a few of those favorite things are their attention to detail in things like embroidery and pattern placement — how gorgeous is the Elettra Tee ($78) above? — wonderful material choices and well-layered outfits that I could easily copy.

This time around I’m also adoring their models!! I covet this model’s infectious personality. What a smile she has! It certainly makes me want to take a closer look at their clothing…

    Free ship for 48 hours!

It's a nice collection of items, but I'm sitting it out too. I've managed to get almost everything I want at sale plus a % off, and that's what I wait for now. (which I think they might do once the free shipping is over). The quality of what they've been putting out lately isn't worth anything more. I'm thinking about eventually getting the patchwork print shirtdress, but the season for both long sleeves and such a thin material is really short. I also would love to get this skirt – at a further cut. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/aldane-suede-m

I have no idea why I'm obsessed with that Eyelash Dress…haha. It's super quirky….is it scary?! lol
With free ship I might have to order it.

I caved and ordered it. The smaller sizes are selling out already. I'll have to see how it is in person…I can also see that the seam in the front doesn't match up. Not sure if it will drive me nuts or not. 🙂 Its cotton so that's a good thing!

I saw it in the sale room the other day but didn't look at it closely. Hope you like it!

Anthropologie's shipping promos make me so mad. How do they expect to stay competitive when their shipping charges are so exorbitant and they have the nerve to give “free shipping for 48 hours”??? Gimme a break!

I cannot believe in 2017 that Anthropologie does not offer free shipping, It's insanity. Even after a certain dollar amount I could understand. Free shipping when you spend $150 or something like that. But nothing. What is their excuse? Roxy, any idea?

I agree their shipping prices are high and they should move to a $5 or $7 flat rate fee, and be more generous with FS promos more often. They should have included FS with the 20% off coupon, as I did not use it because shipping costs negate the savings. However, I'm not against paying shipping at times. I know shoppers expect this, but shipping packages odes cost money and it does use resources and have an environmental impact, so we should be aware of it. (Of course the stores shouldn't send our orders in 4 different packages either) but I think a small flat rate would be a reasonable move.

I am sure that the sending packages from 4 different locations is a HUGE reason why they continue to charge for shipping. They are probably losing money on shipping to boot.

Gap/ON sends packages in multiple shipments and their minimum is $50, and free if you spend a certain amount with the GapCard. I've been ordering a ton from Gap lately-they have WAY adorable PJs right now-ALL COTTON-and adorable embroidered shirts which are also all cotton. They were so ugly for so many years and now they are getting cute again! And I love the GapFit line and their Gapbody undies too.

I completely agree Kelly although I personally do not pay shipping. I usually go into the store to place my order or wait for promos like this one.

Agree too. Which is why, as I mentioned in my post above, I'm not buying from them without a steep discount anymore. Given the high shipping, the questionable quality of too many items and the constant shifting of prices, I've set my limit on what I'm going to pay. If I'm buying something that isn't on sale with a % off, I go to the store for the free shipping.

I'm happy to see this promo as well. I love that free shipping works for any order, not some $150 threshold. I also love that they adjusted shipping on a previous order. A few things from my wishlist went on sale, but I'm trying to cut back. Just bought a skirt on second cut and some earrings. Also got a PA on some leggings, so all is well.

They do seem to refund shipping on previous orders when they have free shipping, although I have had a few CS reps tell me no when I asked them to do that (not this time around, but not long ago I had 3 in a row tell me no). When they tell me no I buy less, so it definitely helps me stick to my budget!

Kelly – exactly. The pricing games are driving me nuts. It takes all the fun out of shopping , and it also conditions me to see only the lowest price (which is sale plus 40% off) as the price at which it is worth it for me to buy (if they have shown me they will go that low, why should I not expect it?). This is the way I shop at LOFT or Lucky – I'll sit and wait for the discount I want to show up – then I will buy. That's not the way I used to shop at Anthro. Not too long ago we were all excited for 15% off Anthro day, and I always bought something.

i agree with this 100%. I will now only pay the shipping with something that I know is a pop back which hardly ever happens and I wont be able to score it in-store, or even have time to get to a store to order it with free shipping before someone else snatches it up and it's sold out.

Was there an email on this or only Roxy's post? After the 10's of thousands I know I spent here, I'm now now getting emails either. Contacted them multiple times about it. Happened in Nov 2016, but considering the comments about quality, too many cold shouldered tops, I seem to not truly be missing anything, which makes me sad. Used to go to the store every weekend.

I just went and looked at that – wow. Even the way the photo is presented has paint splatters, is fuzzy and totally looks like it was cut and paste from an 80s video.

Here is the link to the Baron's article that is referenced in the comments – this should give us a good idea of what the quarterly report is going to look like (not that anyone is going to be surprised): http://www.barrons.com/articles/anthropologie-str

oh yeah and I hate the March catalog, you can't even see the clothes because they are all outlined with fuzzy splatters. Anthro is the only company I know of that tries NOT to show its clothes clearly.

OT…but I would like to find the McGuire Valetta jeans in Santina, size 28. They are sold out now, so any leads from Anthro or another retailer would be appreciated!

Is Anthro phasing out the AG Stevie? That is their exclusive cut, and I only saw a couple styles for spring. I was hoping they would offer regular denim mid rise Stevie's again this year as they had them in the fall.

I typed in “cold shoulder” on the Anthro app and came with 143 results. Ridiculous.

I have one single cold shoulder top I bought on ebay. I paid around $15 for it (not an Anthro top) and haven't even worn it yet. It will be out of style by the time I get around to wearing it!

Not sure if this link has already been posted (“Anthropologie leads Urban Outfitters' record fourth quarter sales”), but the full 4th quarter results come out on Tuesday, March 7:

That is strange, because the article I posted (a few posts above) seems to be saying the exact opposite.

If there were strong 4th quarter sales it had to be due to the aggressive promotions and markdowns. Which is not a sustainable way to make money.
