Costa Rica 2017 Recap: OOTDs

Enjoying sunset over the Pacific Ocean and each other, on the vacation of our dreams in Costa Rica.

Each morning my boyfriend and I wake up and say, “Let’s go back to Costa Rica!” We’re not yet at the point financially where it’s possible to go on extended trips without our work suffering but our photo allow us to relive the trip often. Although we were only in the Papagayo Bay for a week, we made a lifetime of memories! (Cheesy but true.)

What does one wear while in the Papagayo Bay? Aside from my activity clothing which mostly consisted of Lululemon’s Run Times Short ($58) and Energy Bra ($48) — see those on me here at the mud baths! — beach vacation was a time to enjoy the flowy and the lightweight.

Inside, some of my outfits from the trip…

The wind was whipping one of the days we shot and the sun was shining down, and I have never felt more relaxed! Although it is very tempting to edit away all the imperfections the sun brings out, from dimples on my thighs to zits (le sigh, thanks air travel) on my face, at the end of the day this is probably one of my favorite outfit sets ever. Even if it makes me feel scared to share those imperfections, it’s also my way of saying that yes, this is really me. I’m working my way back into shape after an injury last Summer yet I can still love myself equally at my current size and the size I’m aiming for.

Besides, no one was walking around with towels over their bodies or hiding on the beach. All I saw was beauty all around me! It radiates out. I felt lovely and I hope that’s what comes through in these shots!

Let’s talk about my cute Ray-Bans for a minute, which Solstice was generous enough to gift to me before my trip. The Signets’ mirror frames were so fun for the sun, reflecting the rays right back outwards. There’s no going wrong with Aviators either — such a classic — and this particular pair had a pretty rainbow gradient in them. Both sunnies are polarized and were great for everything from beach to hiking, and of course lounging around the pool.

You look beautiful and absolutely radiant in these photos, and I for one find it really refreshing to see a style blogger post real photos that aren't photoshopped and filtered into oblivion. I don't know who people think they're fooling when they airbrush all the pores off their face or stretch their legs 10 feet long, but it is just so necessary. The real YOU is beautiful!

love the shots in the red dress, especially the first pic!!! looks like a relaxing vacation. how long have you and BF been dating? haven't heard of him since now!

  17. March 22, 2017 / 4:36 pm

Dangit, Roxy! Every time you post outfit photos, I have to have a piece you are wearing. Recently, it was the Almond Leaf Earrings, now it is the Roe Open-Shoulder Tank. 😀

  18. March 22, 2017 / 12:37 pm

It was very relaxing! Almost the instant we touched down in Liberia (the western airport in Costa Rica, there's another in the capital San Jose).

Oh a long time! We're not sure exactly when we started dating so we picked a date to celebrate our anniversary on. We've been living together for awhile now. He prefers not to be a social media presence so I don't mention him much but he's around and we love each other and all that good stuff.

I think what has kept me reading this blog is that you have always been real – you show it and tell it like it is. I also have through the years seen you at your smaller and larger points. Right now though you have a peace and glow that was missing in the past. Whether it be the BF, job or just security that comes with age, it becomes you. So right now I would say you are at your most fabulous – and do love how you rock that red dress!!!!!

    • March 23, 2017 / 12:36 pm

Thank you Shari!!! I'm very happy to have long-time readers like you who have stuck with me through it all!! Cheers to the future.

    Thanks for this 🙂
I love the Converse and sandals!
    Anthro OT:
No reviews on this one..has anyone tried this tank? It looks like a person could totally size down 1 or 2. Just wanted to hear a personal opinion on it. It might be too swingy for me. Hard to tell. 🙂 Thanks! https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/ruffled-swing-

Hmm I have not seen it in-store, sometimes we do get online exclusives in NYC, but I've yet to notice these.

Thanks Roxy! Just added the Goals Dance Legwarmers and Ladan Harness to my wish list. I'm getting a pair (or two or three) of their Faryl Robin shoes and just waiting to see if any promos come along this week, seeing as Mother's Day is just around the bend.

    • April 24, 2017 / 2:39 pm

We shall see! I haven't heard anything for Free People but you never know.

    I totally understand your dilemma!

OT: Has anyone scored ANY popbacks on their wishlist, saved for later or registries? Just wondering… Because I have had NO luck at all. Thanks!

I got a pair of earrings about a month ago, but that's it.

I have no “saved for later” ..all my good stuff was on it and it disappeared. I'm on my second email with Anthro..and so far nothing.

Not much anymore, though I did order a pair of AG farrah skinny jeans that pop backed today. I really hope they ship.
Other than that some random pop-backs end up on the sale page, but most of the time they are sold out.

Great post as I too have been underwhelmed at anthro. Is there any chance of wearing a bra of some sort with the Marsha Slip Dress? OT anthro rant…will they ever create an app for android users?? Also it is sooooo annoying trying to delete stuff from my wishlist on the website! Thanks Roxy…I feel better now 🙂

  27. April 25, 2017 / 6:52 am

I can't see popbacks anymore since Anthropologie changed up the wishlists, plus there was that debacle recently where there were over 100 phantom popbacks, I don't want to lead the community astray when things like that happen!

And they're doing sale three times a week — it's impossible to keep up! I'm open to starting them both up again once things settle down.

Thanks for the pictures in the post. Love this format!!
I feel i buy more stuff from free people now than anthro. And my closet is 80% anthro.

      Yup. Similar!
