J.Crew is offering a fantastic once-a-year promo this weekend!!

The Chateau Parker in Stadium Cloth ($365 + 30% off) is on a rare promotion.

J.Crew is a store that offers promotions pretty often, but the promo they’re running this weekend is special. Now through Monday (Oct 31) J.Crew is offering 30% off select coats and outerwear — including options that never go on promo like the Chateau Parker in Stadium Cloth ($365 + 30% off) above, and more beautiful coats that come in a wide range of colors, inside…

The Stadium Cloth Cocoon Coat ($350 + 30% off) is always excluded from promos…except this one!
It comes in 12 colors, from pink to blue to marigold.

I’m delighted to see so many coats included in this promo, including ones I’ve owned in the past or have in my closet now. One of the latter is the Stadium Cloth Cocoon Coat ($350 + 30% off), a coat that is not as huge as the name sounds and very, very warm in the winter. I own it in a cobalt blue color similar to the ‘deep violet’ currently available. The coat runs true to size (TTS), hits me just above the knees and has held up for 5+ years so far. I absolutely adore it!

Another coat in my closet is the Double Cloth Lady Day Coat with Thinsulate ($365 + 30% off), which I own in the tall version which is sadly $10 more. (Your tall tax blows, J.Crew.) I own the coat in a bordeaux color which is not available this year, but there are several more colors sure to tempt. I found this coat to run slightly large so I went down to a 6 in it instead of my usual 8. This beautiful long piece with buttons down the front is a divine work jacket, and is dressy enough for evening as well.

I’ve had that coat for at least 4 years, but the winner for longevity in my closet at 8 years and running (!!!) is the Majesty Peacoat (select colors $210-$240 + 30% off, or $298 + 30% off)! I own the coat in navy and marigold, both of which are just as bright and perfect as the days I bought them. The marigold color in particular has held up exceptionally well, much to my surprise. I find the pocket placement on this coat to be perfection, and the coat is warm without being stifling. The coat underwent a slight redesign in 2011 — mostly the buttons changed color — but the fit is still the same. I found this coat to run large too, and usually take a 6 in it rather than my standard 8. One note on this coat — it does pill slightly each year, so at the beginning of the cold season I usually run a sweater razor over it, especially under the armpits.

The Double Cloth Belted Trench Coat ($425 + 30% off) is a classic shape, winterized.

If you live in a climate with warmer temperatures, or perhaps somewhere like Colorado which I’m visiting now where the days vary between extremely chilly and not so much, the Double Cloth Belted Trench Coat ($425 + 30% off) may be perfect for you! This coat is a sleek, lighter weight wool mix that works well in fall but not so much on those really cold winter days. I love the belt so, so much! I’m eyeing that beautiful deep redwood color for myself. It runs TTS.

Likewise, the Belted Zip Trench Coat in Wool Melton ($398 + 30% off) is lighter weight than it looks. In the experience of myself and friends, this coat works best on taller figures (5’7″+) with curvy shapes or no curves at all, but not pears or apples. If you fit into that strict criteria, this jacket will look absolutely divine on you! This coat also runs TTS.

Some trendier coats for the season that look great on all shapes include the Double Breasted Coat in Oxford Check ($378 + 30% off) and the Diamond Tweed Coat ($325 + 30% off). These coats both have a peacoat shape (the former a more voluminous take on it) that look special, and are certainly on-trend. I sized down in both of these when I tried them on.

Looking for a more classic coat? Try the Nordic Parka ($450 + 30% off) for super cold climates or the Regent Top Coat in Double Serge Wool ($350 + 30% off) for climates that get chilly, but not too cold. The Regent in particular comes in such a wide range of beautiful colors, I’m seriously considering getting it for Spring and Fall. Both of these run TTS.

One final coat in the promo worth mentioning, because it almost never goes on sale or promo, is the puffy Wintress Belted Puffer Coat ($298 + 30% off), which only comes in navy or black but accomplishes the nearly impossible feat of being a puffer that’s flattering on! It runs TTS.

J.Crew coats do sometimes go on sale but usually not until the winter is nearly over, and even then only limited sizes and colors remain. So if you like their coats as I do now is a brilliant time to give them a try!

Do you love J.Crew’s coats? Do you own any of these? Will you be taking advantage of this promo?
