Things to buy before summer disappears entirely from stores

It was challenging to find beach towels in the stores around us for the July 4th weekend!

I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! (Or Canada Day, for our neighbors up North!) I spent nearly all weekend at the beach with my guy and a large group of friends. During our sun time we couldn’t help but notice that it was really, really, confusingly hard to find beach stuff in stores! One friend of ours went to 5 stores before he found one still stocking beach towels.

In honor of those silly hardships brought about by seasonally confused retailers (pre-fall is already in stores??? What is pre-fall???), inside, some things to buy now before August rolls around and you’re SOL…

Turkish Towels.
I am a huge fan of Turkish towels for the beach and pool. Unlike regular bath towels, Turkish towels don’t get heavy and soggy when wet and they dry very quickly in the sun. Right now my boyfriend and I are going on lots of road trips over long weekends, and though we have our Jeep space is still at a premium. I can fit two Turkish towels in the space 1/3 of a normal beach towel would take up!

Plus, they’re pretty. I sometimes wear mine as a sarong after swimming’s done.

Picks: Turkish-T Basic Breeze Towel ($44) || Turkish Towel, Pink ($25) || Turkish Towel, Gray ($25) || Turkish Towel, Royal ($25)

There’s also: These Turkish hybrid towels have cotton on one side, looped terry on the other: Turkish-T Beach Club Bath Towel ($64) || Cabana Stripe Turkish Cotton Beach Towel in Aqua ($20) || Fouta Beach Towel ($48) || Turkish Bath Towel ($20 + an extra 20% off)

Sun hats.
Every time I think my skin has built up sun tolerance, a sunburn at the beach proves me wrong. (Pass the aloe, please.) My face in particular needs almost constant coverage from the sun! So sun hats are a must for me, yet they’re rapidly disappearing from store shelves in favor of gloves and hats. In July. Whatever, retailers!

Picks: Melodie Sun Hat (now $60 + an extra 30% off) || Striped Bunny Sun Hat (now $300 + an extra 30% off) || Gottex Belladonna Hat (now $68) || AQUA Two-Tone Striped Brim Hat (now $79) || Eugenia Kim Honey Striped Sun Hat (now $263)

And…for those who like extra shade on the beach like me, this beach tent assembles and dissambles in a snap. We love it!

Sandals.
Very soon fall shoes will make their appearance in stores, which will mean booties, pumps and perhaps some sandals, but not nearly the selection you’ll enjoy at this moment. Especially on sale!

Picks: The Thea Sandal in Diamond Stitch (now $40, wear them with socks around the apartment to break them in) || The Thea Crisscross Sandal in Spotdot ($98 + an extra 30% off) || Jae Sandals (now $100 + an extra 30% off) || Dolce Vita ‘Linsey’ Lace-Up Wedge Sandal (now $100) || Stuart Weitzman Minky Patent Leather Cork Wedge Sandals (now $174) || Via Spiga Weslyn Perforated Block Heel Ankle Strap Sandals (now $137)

Bathing Suits.
Summer’s not even a month in, yet bathing suits are rapidly making their exit from store shelves. Odd, no? Plan ahead and order online for some great deals. (Especially if you’re on the busty side like me, where stores rarely carry your size.)

Picks: The Strappy-back Getaway Halter (now $10) with The Strappy Cheeky (now $5) || The Getaway Halter (now $27) with The Heavenly Bikini (now $15) || BCA ‘Bohemian Quilt’ Bikini Top (now $21) with BCA ‘Bohemian Quilt’ Bikini Bottoms (now $21) || 6 Shore Road by Pooja Sunday Halter Bikini Top (now $45) with 6 Shore Road by Pooja Sunday Strappy Bikini Bottom (now $48)  || Carmen Marc Valvo One-Piece Peony Halter Maillot (now $65) || Seaside High-Neck One-Piece (now $70 + an extra 30% off) || Seafolly Umbrella One-Piece (now $100 + an extra 30% off)

And…for those who are bustier, I love Miraclesuits for swimming laps, like the Miraclesuit DDD-Cup Helix ($122). This Miraclesuit Indigo Escape Swimsuit DD-Cups ($142-$173) is great for the beach too.

What are you making sure you buy before summer items disappear from stores?
