Bought & Loved: 5 Things plus an Anthro Tag Sale update

The perfect lightweight tote bag, from Free People.

Before we launch in to some of my favorite non-Anthropologie purchases recently, Anthropologie did update its Tag Sale this morning with some Fresh Cuts! Not a ton but certainly more than a few, among the highlights for me are the Lattice Stripe Tee (now $40 plus an extra 30% off), Style No. 4112527771001; the Tillie V-Neck Tee (now $40 plus an extra 30% off), Style No. S4112200841052 and the Macrame Tank (now $50 plus an extra 30% off), Style No. 4112383418804. The extra 30% off sale promo is still in effect!

Inside, five more delightful purchases that won’t break the bank….

The Free People Slouchy Vegan Tote ($68) topping this post has been a fantastic find for me, giving me a tote that’s lightweight, can fit more than you’d think by looking at it, yet can also be folded and squished for travel without killing the shape. The totes come in options that look more like leather or like soft nubuck suede like the washed black with tan shown in the photo topping the post. The best part? The bag is reversible and comes with two additional pouches inside — a zippered laptop pouch and a small catchall pouch.

The colors aren’t shown very well online either…I originally ordered the champagne but it was too nude in real life and matched my skin tone too closely. I ended up exchanging it for the washed wine and taupe version, and the washed tan and coral version is also high on my list.

For those looking for a slightly bigger version of this tote, the Triple Pocket Slouchy Tote ($68) is divided into three sections for easier organization and has the same lightweight feel.

Just when I think I have enough dresses, another cute frock makes its debut and I’m smitten! At Madewell, the Eyelet Overlay Dress ($158) won me over with its double-layered, incredibly light and breezy summer white. It looks amazing on my tanned skin! It hits just above the knee and runs true to size, which these days at Madewell is an 8 or a 10 for me depending on the dress style (I took an 8 in this one). I’m currently eyeing this Portside Skirt ($78) but it hasn’t come home with me yet.

Banana Republic also has quite a few cute dresses right now, though their cuts are not working as well for me lately. I did find a winner in the Floral Ruffle-Layer Dress (now $98), which has a racerback, a dropwaist and totally cute double-layer pleating along the bottom. I had to go all the way up to a 12 to get a good fit in this dress, which is notable for testing my “size doesn’t matter, it’s all about fit” credo. One other BR purchase that’s worked out very well for me is the Ruffle-Sleeve Keyhole Top (now $48) which made the ideal July 4th top, and has a cute festive summery feel to it.
