Maybe clothes are just prettier than they were last Spring? How else to explain the flies that casually buzz out of my empty spending wallet this Spring, punctuated by new delights overflowing in my closet. Last year? Barely anything new. This year? A constant struggle (in the most superficial and silly sense of the word) to decide what to cull to make room for what I’m bringing in.
Items like the Bow Shoulder Top in Oversized Gingham ($80), which runs a bit large, make me smile every morning when I get dressed. I love the colors, the length and of course the bow! Whimsy and lightness — just what Spring and Summer need. If you like the idea of this top but maybe not the print placement or bow, J.Crew Factory offers a simpler, more classic variation in its Factory Gingham Shell Top (now $36, today only). There’s something to love no matter what your style…
While Anthropologie is totally delighting me, they are not alone. J.Crew, its Factory Store and Madewell are all catching my eye too! Inside, some of the things I’ve bought and loved recently from the J.Crew family of stores, and a promo worth investigating…
J.Crew has long been a work staple for me, and their Spring 2016 offerings certainly continue that reliability! The Portfolio Dress ($148) is well-made, has just a hint of stretch, and achieves both a professional and modern look. I just love it so much! I bought the navy shown above as well as the necklace shown here, the Crystal Collar Necklace ($128). They look just as lovely in real life as they do here. I’ve long been a fan of J.Crew’s jewelry — right now, I’m eagerly awaiting the online debut of these two necklaces.
J.Crew Factory has some great work options too — I purchased the Factory Cap Sleeve Dress (now $73-$98, today only) last year and found myself delighted by how well it hugs and releases in all the right spots! Even Madewell’s getting in on the work act — I wear the Silk Smocked Skirt in Triangle Field (now $40) along with the Silk Sundown Tank in Triangle Field (now $50) for a cute work combination! See below…
On the more casual side, I love pairing Madewell’s Tempo Tie Shoulder Top in stripe ($50) with the Denim Button Front Skirt in pure white ($85). On windier days I throw the Fleet Jacket ($118) in ink on over the look. The jacket and top run small — I took a large in both; the skirt runs true to size.
A couple of Madewell tops I like but didn’t buy (because they didn’t look great on my body type) include the Eyelet Mix Top ($88) which is too short on me but could be great on someone petite, and the Rivet & Thread Japenese Indigo Stripe Top ($98) which looks fab on but is too low-cut for me. Instead I’ll settle for the Balcony Ikat Off the Shoulder Top ($85), which also comes in a dark striped version or a classic white.
Other J.Crew, J.Crew Factory and Madewell pruchases recently that I’m totally raving over:
— J.Crew 5″ Chino Short (now $35 + extra 40% off, today only) — my favorite length in beautiful, opaque colors
— J.Crew Slingback Flats in Gingham ($178) — adorable, and comfortable. Run true to size.
— J.Crew Glitter Slingback Flats ($178) — ditto above!
— Factory Scalloped Embroidered Linen Shirt (now $40, today only) — dress it up or down easily, runs TTS.
— Factory Embroidered Tank Top (now $35, today only) — Love the neckline on this! Runs large.
Now, if Madewell would just run a promo on its Transport Weekender ($298) and Transport Crossbody ($148), I’d be one happy camper.
Both J.Crew and J.Crew Factory are running 24-hour promos, today only. At J.Crew, you can take 40% off summer picks and an extra 40% off sale with the code 24hours. At J.Crew Factory, everything is 50% off, prices as marked.
