Nine New Anthropologie Dresses I Love This Morning

I tried the Cafe Dress ($158) on in Portland with these mules and this jacket
the dress fits like a dream and works with so many coordinating items!

New dresses have appeared in the Anthropologie new arrivals section! There are so many new frocks to love today — it’s borderline overwhelming. Here are a few of my favorites.

While out in Portland I had a chance to try on the beautiful Cafe Dress ($158) above. It fits true to size and does lovely things for curves! I tried on my usual 6 and it was almost heaven; the shoulder straps are a little too long for me and will need to be shortened. Photos of that coming up soon!

Another dress I tried there and loved was the Flared Clipdot Dress ($178), which wasn’t tempting me too much online but has a more purple tint in real life than the product shot made me think and I love that. Portland Personal Stylist Eulalie noted that this dress has been universally flattering and I’m not surprised — fit and flares look great on everyone! Photos of that dress coming up too.

One dress that pleasantly surprised was the Lilt Swing Dress ($118). I expected its high neckline and swingy shape to go tentlike on me, but the dress has some tailoring around the waist to provide a gentle shape and a beautiful cascade down the body. It actually creates a lovely silhouette!

Look familiar? The Canary Lined Dress ($168) has the same shape as last summer’s
Saybrook Stripe Dress in  new colors.

For every fit-and-flare like the Canary Lined Dress ($168) or the beautiful Concerto Silk Dress ($228, looooove the green!) there are more challenging shapes that could either be wonderful or woeful on, but certainly have me tempted. I’m looking at the Cirque Swing Dress ($178) Anthro is currently featuring on their site as well as the Valletta Dress ($168) with its beautiful stripes upon stripes, and the shift shapes of the Beaded Fleur Shift ($348) and Vanoise Petite Dress ($118) — the latter of which I’d almost want to wear backwards were I a petite to show off that v-neckline!

One bonus dress: here’s a pretty maxi that isn’t online yet (update: now it is!) but will be soon and is in many stores already, the Sierra Maxi by Donna Morgan:
