15 Things I Love at Banana Republic right now

Banana Republic’s Cotton/Linen Peplum Dress ($158 + 30% off) has my name written all over it.
I adore the necklace they’ve paired with the dress here too.

My Spring 2016 closet refresh is in full swing and the next store to draw my eye is Banana Republic, which is currently running a 30% off select dresses and skirts. With work on my mind and shoes dazzling my eyes, here are 10 things I’m loving at BR right now…

Not only do I love the Cotton/Linen Peplum Dress ($158 + 30% off) topping this post, I’m also rather enamored with the pumps they pair with the dress on the product page. These Dakota Lace-Up Pumps ($138) come in the merlot shown here, as well as a minty green and a soft sandy suede. This lace-up idea has been around for a few seasons now and several retailers have interpreted it. I like the colors BR chose a lot. These shoes run true to size, a 9 for me. As nice as those pumps are I’m even more tempted by these open-toed bootie pumps, and I rarely say such a crazy-sounding thing.

The dress, while very neutral, is perfect for my current job where I find myself in front of live audiences frequently but want the art we’ve created to speak rather than my clothing. This dress seems very fun and feminine without being too intensely bold.

Of course it’s not the only dress I’m loving at Banana Republic right now. I’m also quite taken by this Floral Ruffle Dress ($158) with its mix of purple tones, and the lavender version of this Geo Lace Peplum Dress ($178) is similarly high on my wants list. I was impressed that all of these dresses worked on my body type! I took my usual size 6 in the ruffle dress and sized up to an 8 in both peplum dresses.

My bottom half could be all set in this combo…

There’s a floral motif in BR’s Spring 2016 collection that makes its way onto several items including these New Sloan-Fit Floral Slim Ankle Pant ($88). These are the kind of Sloans I like, with a hint of stretch to them. They come in varying lengths too (from petite to tall) so if you wanted to have these full length and are on the shorter side, it’s possible.

I was equally surprised by how delighted I was by the New Sloan-Fit Garment-Dye Utility Ankle Pant ($88)! The lilac and mint colors were both fun and flattering on and the big pockets looked scary but worked on my body. I took a 10 in all of these pants mentioned in this post. I also feel that the Jeweled Bug Statement Necklace ($148) would go well with either color of those pants, but I can’t decide how I feel about wearing bugs around my neck…

The pants are super cute (the bugs may not be), and so are the Italian Vachetta Bucket Bag ($198, yum) and Honey Fringe Sandal ($148). The sandals are not all-day comfortable to me, but would be great for an evening out or an event with plenty of seating. Mostly, I love the colors (Especially that red!)

Ruffles are making a return — hooray!

I am not the type to get sick of ruffles, ever, so I’m delighted to see them making a comeback! I’m a big fan of this simple yet chic look above which features the Stripe Ruffled Peplum Top ($68, runs TTS) and Indigo Skinny Ankle Jean ($98). Very easy to throw this on for a casual workday, or brunch, or walking around the city…really anything!  The shoes shown here? The Andilla D’Orsay Pump ($138) which also come in two perfect floral motifs for simple outfit accents.

Another blouse with ruffles that’s in my online cart right now is the Heritage Ruffle Sleeveless Blouse ($88). It very much reminds me of a top that Anthropologie would carry under its Tiny label.
