Checking in with the awesome promos currently running at J.Crew and Madewell!

Bless you Madewell, for your fall outfit perfection. top // skirt // flats

If last year is any evidence, we’re about due for a full-price weekend promo at Anthropologie. I’m kind of hoping they’ll wait one more week as my discretionary bank account doesn’t refill til next week and there are some great promos going on around the shopping world!

The winners of the promo wars right now? Madewell and J.Crew, where you can take up to 30% off at the former and 25% off at the latter. Inside, some beautiful fall picks destined to make my wardrobe ever more fun….

I’d probably swap out the sneakers for cute flats, but otherwise this Madewell outfit is great!
vest // top // pants (on sale + up to an extra 30% off) // sneakers

Let’s begin with Madewell, where the deal is pretty sweet. Now through September 21st, take 20% off your $100+ order or 30% off your $200+ order, in-store and online. Use the code WINWIN online at checkout.

Madewell is my ideal store for weekend wear though lately I’ve been having more work luck there too. While leather jackets are excluded from their promotion, I’m delighted that not all leather is. That means I can pick up the drool-worthy Leather Asymmetrical Skirt ($250) for less than full price. If leather’s not quite your thing the skirt also comes in a wool-cotton-elastane mix. The sweater shown with that version is super cute too — and it’s on sale!

In fact, the sale section might be the goldmine of this promo. There are so many great fall transitional items on sale right now at Madewell! Among my favorites are this baseball sweater, this top which looks not-so-great on the model but pretty in real life, this cute eyelet split-back top which looks adorable under a cardigan (size down, I bought a small instead of a medium), another cute crop top available in large sizes only at the moment, my much-adored Mira heels (run tts) and this v-neck sweater which is so comfy on!

Over in full-price land, I cannot rave about these uniform dark-wash jeans enough. As they are skinny-skinny, I did have to size up in them but it’s well worth it. Now is also a prime time to pick up Madewell’s famous Archive Boot ($298 + 30% off) which comes in both regular and extended calf. (Thank you Madewell for making extended calf boots!)

Madewell’s dress section has been a gift to my work closet lately. The simple yet flattering Adore Dress (on promo for $98 right now) is a universally flattering fit-and-flare with a high neckline that can be styled to elegance, simplicity or trendy depending on the accessories I choose. It’s one of those dresses that I can wear more often because the dress itself doesn’t shout so with different accessories no one notices it’s the third time I’m wearing it this week.

The Leather-Inset Ponte Dress ($148) has a relatively subtle leather panel inlay that makes it more fun than the ordinary and the Side-Slit Sweater Dress ($110) is a long-sleeve delight that would look great under a leather jacket. Though a little too much for work, I also love the Luminous Overlay Dress ($138) which has a v-neck that is plunging but not sternum-revealing deep.

Yes to this J.Crew dress, a hundred times over. The bag’s pretty too, but excluded from the promo.

And there is J.Crew. Ahhh, J.Crew. I’ve rekindled my love affair with them this fall as they’ve started meandering back towards their routes of beautifully tailored, exquisitely made clothing. They seem to be striking a nearly perfect balance between trendy and classic at the moment which melts me into a puddle of ooey-gooey happiness. It also wallops my wallet but hey, a girl’s got to have her shopping priorities straight.

The promo at J.Crew is: from now through September 20, take 25% off your purchase using the code SHOPNOW at checkout. This promo is online-only though in the past I’ve had great luck using these codes in-store too by asking politely. There are also a bunch of exclusions to this promo; basically the easiest way to know is by going to the product page of the item you’re interested in. Items included in the promo have red lettering saying “25% off with SHOPNOW” below the item price.

What do I want at J.Crew? It’s one of those seasons where it’s more like what don’t I want at J.Crew. I recently tried on a bunch of workwear stuff there — reviews in this recent post — and since then my wishlist has only grown further. Let’s take a look at some of my newest favorites.

First, I’m delighted that cashmere is included in this promo since it was excluded last time. That means I can pick up a new color of the Collection Cashmere V-Neck Sweater ($198) which is a wardrobe staple, and also try the new Collection Cashmere Boatneck Tunic ($248) which I’ve tried on and is so, so soft! It’s boxy as anything though, so I plan to wear it with a sleek skirt or leggings.

I’m also quite enamored with this Chanel-esque tweed jacket, which didn’t have too much metallic to it when I saw it in real life. (A pink or grey version would totally have me making grabby hands.) I’m not surprised that this sleeveless belted dress has flown nearly out of stock; it’s ultra-flattering on and simple in shape yet also sophisticated.

I was convinced to pick up this crossbody bag during my last in-store visit and now I’m so glad — it’s cute and small but big enough for the basics. And I’ve mentioned these a few times but I really love the flower stone jewelry, especially the necklace!

Dress. Drooling.

We’ll take a closer look at J.Crew Factory’s latest (my little shopping secret) in another post, but I did want to mention that they are also running a promo this weekend. Now through September 22, take 30% off your J.Crew Factory order using the code EXTRA30. If you are a J.Crew cardholder you can get 35% off your order using the code CARDEXTRA.

The highlight of J.Crew Factory’s assortment for me is without a doubt the dress you see above, which was a J.Crew Collection dress last year for over three times the price. Of course the material is now different, but I’m delighted at a shot to own this dress which sold out so quickly at the retail store.

You can check out more of my J.Crew Factory picks in this post. Do you plan to take advantage of any of these promotions? I’d love to hear about your recent try-ons, purchases and such from any of these three stores!
