Why now might be the best time to buy…boots! (New arrivals + super sale)

High up on my boots wishlist? Free People’s High Noon Tall Boot ($598).

Yes, it’s August. Yes, it’s 90+ degrees outside most days. And yes, I’m still ready to talk about one of my favoritest favorite fall and winter items — BOOTS!! Why talk about them now? Because while many stores are rolling out their newest items for Fall 2015 (and there are plenty to drool over inside this post) August is also one of the last months to score great deals on last year’s styles and overstock.

By now I have a pretty good idea of what I want for this year. If you do too, come inside to take a look at what’s good and new and what’s good and on super sale…

Let’s begin with Anthropologie’s burgeoning boot collection, shall we? So far nothing that compares to, say, the Winding Ruffle Boots of years past but it’s quite early and already there are some cute styles showing up. Though I’m not much a fan of booties I do love the Lien.Do Baja Boots ($238) which remind me of the paddock boots I used to wear around the horse stables as a kid as well as their taller cousins the Alta Lace-Up Boots ($378).

Anthropologie’s boot selection pales in the year-round delights stocked by their sister store, Free People. Some styles mystify me — I don’t understand boots with open toes or heels for example, but I can appreciate how well FP styles them! These occasionally budget-busting selections are lovely to look at even if they’ll likely never end up in my closet…

Whew…boot porn! After all that it’s no wonder I wish for more closet space to own 20 pairs of boots. Of course to do that I’ll have to find some options that are true steals. Luckily, now is a good time of year to find deals on boots at the clearance stores, like Last Call, Saks Off Fifth and Nordstrom Rack. Last Call for example is having a 50% off clearance on select items, today only!

From Last Call:

DSW (love these and these), Gilt, and Amazon are are all great places to turn. At Amazon to combat being overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices I use the filters in the left-hand sidebar to set price, heel height and color restrictions for my product searches.

Wishing you all seriously happy boot hunting. If you’ve snagged any awesome pairs recently (perhaps during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale last month?) please do share in the comments!
