Investigating Anthropologie’s newest arrivals

Strange outfit proportions, awesome necklace combination.

While the community seems to be in agreement that March’s Anthropologie unveilings have been somewhat underwhelming, that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to love. Inside, some of the non-lookbook new arrivals that have potential and items that just missed tempting me. (Looking for this month’s catalogue? Check out this post.)

My favorite item from this bunch is likely the Parkside Pleated Dress ($228), which has the caveats of being possibly too short and having a very low back. But the Connecticut Country Club girl in me cannot be denied spring tweed! The Daisy Field Tank ($78) likewise is everything I say I don’t want in a top — no structure, looks oversized, etc. — and yet I can’t wait to hunt it down and try it on! No one said the shopping heart follows any kind of logic. The Blushbloom Sheath ($190) might be the poor man’s Clover Canyon dress but that’s cool by me. Not shown above is the adorable Painted Pug Tee ($68) — I want a Shiba Inu version!

The rest of these items are interesting enough that I want to try them on. One has already made it to the fitting room with me. The Vegan Leather Skater Skirt ($118) is adorable, runs TTS, but is regrettably short. (Full review next week.) Perhaps once my legs are back in half-marathon shape that piece might be doable. Now however there is just no way.

Temptations abound for me in the jewelry section. The latest wishlist addition is the Planket Gem Necklace ($42), which looks very cute on Anthro’s site paired with the Belmar Pullover ($198), aka the Taylor Sweater from Ella Moss. I’m in love with the Lilium Necklace ($58) at the top of this post, though in real life its plastic-y nature has me wondering if the sound of clanking petals is more trouble than it’s worth. The Root-Needles Necklace ($88) has maxi-pairing potential; the slightly less new Pearl Frond Necklace ($88) just looks so cool!

Bryony Set ($38, $48)

Bryony Set ($38, $48)

I’ve made a couple of small purchases at Anthropologie recently. First was the Bryony Set ($38, $48) above, a soft and comfy sleep set that comes in a few color combos. I was torn between the ivory (left above) and turquoise versions. In store only the latter was available which made the decision easy. I stuck with my usual size medium.

I also invested in the online-only Wide-Link Choker ($58) which in real life looks exactly like it does online. The chain seems slightly shorter however as I can’t get it to sit as it does in the catalogue shot at the top of this post without using a chain extender. Do love it though.

In the category of near-misses there are quite a few for me right now. The Chanda Column Dress ($198) looks incredible but I know that large medallion over the chest combined with a high neckline will be impossible for me to pull off. (If I can find it I’ll review it anyway, just in case I’m wrong.) The Strikethrough Midi Pullover ($88) looks like one of those trendy items Anthro is OK pulling off but the lone review seems to declare otherwise. The Maleo High-Low Tee ($198) looked boxy but doable from the front. Then I saw the back…

The Pearl District Dress ($128) might work if it’s longer than it looks online. Since it’s online only, I may never find out. And finally the Azul Note Shift ($275) has a color combo I adore but the stripe placement…ugh.

What New Arrivals have caught your eye? Which ones got wishlisted or purchased? Which ones are near-misses for you?
