Eye Candy: Anthropologie October 2013 catalogue

It’s so overdue — Anthropologie has finally found its way to Paris for a catalogue shoot! I was beginning to wonder if Free People had somehow claimed an exclusive on the City of Lights. Such a gorgeous backdrop that instantly made this catalogue a must have for me…though I’ve dropped off the catalogue delivery list once again it’s alright, I’m going paperless as much as possible these days. But this book is worth an in-store pickup. Thoughts and plenty more Eye Candy after the jump.

Do the clothes match up to the backdrop? Not entirely, but truly do they ever? The photo above certainly looks amazing and when the clothing and city match up it’s alluring though not entirely necessary. I’m more concerned that some of these outfits don’t say Anthropologie to me at all. Time was that I used to dog ear nearly every page in the catalogue. I do love some of the looks in this month’s book…but some of them are still head-scratchers to me. Who styles these shoots? Why are there some looks that are clean and crisp, others that look like Grandma’s trunk was raided, and still others that are somehow bland and plain??!? It’s reflective of Anthropologie’s unevenness. When they hit, it’s right in the bull’s eye. When they miss, it’s not even on the target.

I’ve picked out some of my favorite photos to highlight in this post. What do you think of the new arrivals? (We’ll cover non-catalogue new arrivals this weekend on EA.) What made your wishlist/cart/closet?

Left model: Jolie Moto Jacket ($188), Primary Swing Skirt ($148),
Camille Crossbody Bag ($118), Ranch Booties ($198).
Right model: Chromatique Dress ($128), Manon Floppy Hat ($58),
Roscoe Necklace ($48), Montrachet Hobo Bag ($98), Dorset Field Boots ($358).
The moto jacket is cute but looks too short — we shall see.
Pixelated Fleur Dress ($188), Firenze Floppy Hat ($58).
Adorable. Quintessential Anthropologie photo.
French bulldog: C’est rare d’en trouver un de ce genre.
I love the silhouette of the coat; I am dubious about the color choice.
Pinceau Dress ($248), Merula Tassel Necklace ($58).
Potentially awesome dress, depending on how the bodice sits on the body.
Campagne Camo Cardigan ($168), Narva Swing Dress ($98), Embossed Snake Shooties ($188),
Tasseled Metallic Crossbody Bag ($108), Jeweled Owl Pendant ($48), Swiftness Necklace ($58).
A deployment of camo I might be able to get behind. But this outfit is insane to me!
Elysian Lace Top ($88), Rosette Skirt ($158), Velvet Paillette Headband ($32).
That skirt looks very short, le sigh.
Vous êtes un léopard! OK, now you left your oven on! Maybe! You’re not sure…
Gorgeous, gorgeous shot!

What do you think of the October 2013 Anthropologie catalogue photos? What items landed on your wishlist? Any must-haves? Total misses?
