Eye Candy: Anthropologie November 2013 catalogue

Rubied Dusk Dress ($298), Bylinas Flats ($148), Danaine Earrings ($128),
Echoing Necklace ($48), Jura Ring ($398).

It’s nearly November and Anthropologie has begun sneaking items from its next catalogue online. You can see the entire lookbook here. Though I’ve chosen a seasonally-inappropriate photo to kick off the post rest assured the book is filled with sweaters, hats and cold-weater musts. Not to mention horses and puppies! Inside, plenty of pretty photography but not as many outfit ideas as we’ve seen in years past.

Anthropologie just put up a video on their blog about Wyoming, the location for this shoot. I was wondering — those foothills looked familiar!

Karelia Coat ($298).
The coat the community already loves!
Casado Cardigan ($88, review), Etta Chambray Popover ($88), Pilcro Stet Ankle-Zip Cords ($98),
Troika Booties ($188), Culpeper Knit Beret ($32).
In my opinion this shot, while majestic, does nothing to sell the cardigan.
Luckily we already know how awesome it is!
Lodge Cardigan ($148), Pilcro Serif Cord Leggings ($98), Seamed Scoopneck ($48),
Tula Booties ($350), Maidstone Necklace ($88), Manon Floppy Hat ($58).
Free People photobombed the Anthro catalogue.
Arslan Sweater Coat ($198, review), Pilcro Serif Vegan Leather Leggings ($138),
Flecked Pastures Beanie ($32), Jura Ring ($398).
At first I thought this was the moss color of the coat, but it’s actually
a highly color-filtered shot of the cocoa version.
I wish the moss version had a contrast collar; I’d like it so much better!
Woodhouse Cardigan ($128), Crossed Paths Top ($68), Pilcro Serif Ponte Leggings ($98),
Quatrain Scarf ($68), Troika Booties ($188).
“Now, where did I leave my car keys?” *beep beep* *beep beep*
Cultivar Boots ($248) — check out the back, Lace Cloaked Blouse ($98),
Chava Pencil Skirt ($98), Passement Necklace ($58), Brushwood Cuff ($48).
Like me, this model only brings what she needs when camping. Like deer antlers.
And a 500 lb trunk. (There’s probably a giant hair dryer inside.)

As always, there are some non-catalogue new arrivals that caught my eye as well. In particular, the Southlands Coat ($398), Emperor Kiss Sweater ($118), Brass Tacks Boots ($295) — looooooove, Devote Pumps ($258), Midway Boot ($264), Maidengrass Cosmetic Pouch ($24) and Lewes Cloche ($58) have all landed on my wishlist.

I still don’t know quite how to verbalize what’s missing for me from Anthropologie’s catalogues. The locations are better and the shots themselves are better composed than last year and a million times better than 2011. For the most part we can see the outfits very well and the clothings stars as it should. But in years past I’d dog-ear almost every page of the catalogue with the desire to recreate the outfit in its entirety. There’s not a single outfit this month I want to replicate. I suppose it’s not necessary but it’s nice when the catalogue can speak to both something I aspire to be and something I can copy shamelessly, you know? So this catalogue gets a good but not amazing score from me. Community, what are your thoughts?
