Wishlist: December 2012

While my focus is mostly on gift-giving this month that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few pretties in mind for myself. Never know what gift cards Hanukkah and Christmas may bring! Here’s what’s dancing through my head this month…

I took the photo above in Free People‘s Rockefeller Center store. I didn’t even know this store location existed until about 3 days ago!!! Just a block away from Anthropologie’s flagship Rockefeller Center emporium, Free People’s outpost is equally stately and plentiful. Most of the NYC Free Peoples are pretty small but not this one! Two floors and boho galore.

It’s hard to make out from my hastily snapped photo but the mannequin above starts the layering with the gorgeous Shimmy Shimmy Party Dress ($198) in blue which I’m considering as my New Year’s Eve dress. I love how the sequins are just peeking through the lace of the Cozy Time Tunic ($128). Also on this dress form is the Loop Knit Eternity Scarf ($68) and the Mountain Peaks Tall Socks ($24). So this outfit costs $418 altogether but has endless styling possibilities. Anthropologie’s sister store is quickly winning a place in my heart.

Eenie meenie miney mo. With which color of this long ASOS jersey dress will I go? Shall I pick the black? It’s a classic. It hides lumps and bumps. But I’m worried it might look boring upon my dark brown hair. The grey on the other hand seems more sultry but might be less than flattering when challenged by my curviness. Decisions, decisions.

Now I just need a bag to complete the look.

Stellon Bag (now $125)

Stellon Bag (now $125)

I have mentioned Anthropologie’s Stellon Bag before. Now that it’s on sale it’s doubly tempting. And while the olive and charcoal versions on Jo Handbag’s website have gone back up to full price I’m mainly interested in the light grey charcoal bag I think. Must. Remember. Budget.

Then again, who needs practicality? I’m throwing my budget out the window (mentally at least) as I stock my imaginary closet with a few new designer goodies. My love for Proenza Schouler is well-documented at this point. The latest item to catch my eye is their full wrap mini which checks in at a totally reasonable 15 inches long. While I’m tempted by the white version for $1000 and some change, clearly I should be a little more frugal and go with the indigo version for $900.

Oh, Saks 5th Ave card, mama’s coming.

I am filling up my holiday party dance card. I can’t help but think that J.Crew’s Collection Sequin Feather Dress is too much feathery festive goodness to resist. My J.Crew credit card is already smoldering at the mere possibility of the purchase. On the other hand, perhaps I should skip the parties and consider some warmth instead. Rick Owens’ Denim Vest would look great over either color of the ASOS dress in the section above. And at $375 it’s almost affordable. A steal? Can you tell I’m talking myself into it?

Maybe I should chuck the thought of clothing altogether. How about a pretty necklace instead?

OK, fine Erin Wasson. I admit this is pretty. Even if the name is ridiculous. Part of her collab with Low Luv, I love the feel of this item. It would look great over a holiday party dress…

…temptation. I feel it majorly this month!!! What’s on your December wishlist?
