Guest Post: Anthropologie’s still got the goods

There’s been a lot of talk going around that Anthro “ain’t what it used to be.” I have to say I’ve been really baffled by this, because I love Anthro now more than ever. I try to shop at other stores, I really do, but I end up just walking around uninspired and empty-handed. Since there has been so much negative talk going around about their offerings lately, I decided to really ponder why I shop there. Is it brand loyalty? Do I have a crazy addiction to Anthro? Is it just the easiest thing to do? The answer to all those questions was no. So, why have all my purchases so far this year still been from Anthro if everyone else is so underwhelmed? I dunno. Maybe I’ve bought so many items over the years that the Anthro buyers and I have some kind of psychic connection, or maybe the answer doesn’t have to be that mysterious. Maybe, I just simply like it.

This is what I do know. When I walk into an Anthro store, I still get the same feeling of anticipation that I got my very first time. While I’m walking around, I’m still overwhelmed by the number of items I want to take back to the fitting room with me. And, when I’m in the fitting room, I forget about all my problems and am just incandescently happy to be trying on such beautiful clothes.

Given all this, I thought I would share my recent purchases this year and some wishlist items that, in my opinion, still embody the Anthropologie vibe of yore.

Birds and ruffles? What could be more Anthoesque?

I’ve always been able to count on Anthro for great looking knit dresses. This is one of their best ever.

Cute, comfy, and cotton cardigans from Guinivere have been an Anthro staple for me over the years.
Remember how everyone went crazy for the Looping Lanes Belt back in the day? This one is even better.

Same dress, different floral fabrics, classic Anthro

Now, for my wishlist items:

A pretty plaid shirt, but with a Anthro twist: lightweight, gauzy fabric.

A cute warm weather cloche? Yes, please.

Anthro does boho-chic like no other.

Floral print, ruffles, and cutouts, oh my!

A great summer staple with an effortless, Anthroesque vibe.
