It’s time! BHLDN opens second store in Chicago

In a move no doubt meant to coincide with today’s Valentine’s Day holiday, BHLDN is opening its second store in Chicago! The Chicago Tribune got a sneak peek at the store which is located at 8 E. Walton St.

From the Chicago Tribune:
The 3,600-square-foot, two-level store is the retailer’s second BHLDN store nationwide. The first opened last summer in Houston. Urban Outfitters launched the bridal business online a year ago.

The store, a sister to the Anthropologie chain, targets women who want to put their own spin on their big day.

The shop, pronounced “beholden,” resembles a 19th century European townhouse with 15-foot ceilings, grand windows and a spiral staircase with wood risers and travertine treads. In a nod to nostalgia and modernity, sales clerks are dressed in gray pinafore shopkeeper uniforms, while oversized dressing rooms tout iPod docking stations that allow the bridal party to listen to their own music as they shop.

Wedding gowns range from $1,000 to $4,000, and party dresses are typically $200 to $600. The store also sells hair adornments, shoes, lingerie, accessories and party decor.

It sounds very cool! I love the idea of iPod docking stations in the dressing room. (Though knowing sarcastic me, I’d probably make a quelle romantic mix of AC/DC, Metallica, Rammstein, etc. just to throw people off.) The shop sets itself apart from other wedding boutiques by purposely playing up its Anthropologie relations. It’s certainly working on me — I can’t wait to visit this boutique! I think BHLDN needs to remind customers that it does not only weddings but parties and other special occasions.

Will you be visiting the newest BHLDN? For those in the community that have been to the Houston BHLDN store, what is it like?? I’m quite curious.
