{anthro} email: We Love NY.

Though Anthropologie is based in the city of Brotherly Love, their most recent anthro newsletter focuses instead on my home base — the city that never sleeps. Who doesn’t love the Big Apple? Anthro also celebrates the state of New York and some of the designers that hail from the area.

The newsletter contains interviews with Brooklyn’s Taliah Lempert and Susannah Tisue,  Beacon’s Sariah Carson and the Hudson River Valley’s John Patrick.

In other NY news Anthropologie reminds us that a new store is opening soon on the Upper East Side! It will join Soho, 5th Ave, Chelsea Market and the Rockefeller Center flagship in just a couple of months (if not sooner). The 3rd Ave location in the 70s is a former movie theatre that’s sure to be a beautiful store conversion. To be honest this new store is going to be really out of my way and I don’t expect to make it there much, but as an erstwhile UES resident I’m happy for my former neighbors. Hopefully the Financial District is next! Hint, hint.

Lastly Anthropologie reveals that their January 2012 catalog was shot out in Montauk, which is out even further than the Hamptons on Long Island. While the beach settings are certainly lovely this strikes me as an odd choice given some of the local news happening out that way right now. As several community members have mentioned in the comments the story feel of the catalog is very cool! Love the idea of following a young woman on her day. For more, check out the January 2012 Eye Candy post. I’ll be back later today with a look at the new outfit set on Anthro’s website!
