{anthro} email: Handpicked from September, just for you

Looking for the sale post? It’s right here.

Anthro members received a fun email yesterday — a sneak peek at some items from the September 2011 catalogue. For me seeing the outfit styling always helps, so while it’s exciting to see these items I am eager to see the full look. Luckily, Anthropologie provided me and the other bloggers at the Color + Print event some exclusive photos from the catalogue. They are at the end of the post!

The Flounced Pintuck Parka ($198) was among the items at the event, and while I love the orange color it was way to warm to be thinking about parkas. I was hot enough in that beautiful long tweed coat! The concession among the attendees is that this parka runs quite large. You can wear a sweater or two underneath this and still comfortably size down. I’ll do a full review on these items once they appear in-store.

Another item from the event that’s already made the website is the Houndstooth Collage Pencil Skirt ($98). I love the sub-$100 price though I find it odd that this skirt is classified as a pencil. It looks far more A-line to me. I didn’t get a chance to try this on at the event though I was already dreaming up outfits to wear this through the winter. It’s above the knee at 19″ and it is lined. This skirt has already made my wishlist.

Maeve, Maeve, Maeve. You and I had been doing so well! Already this fall though I’ve tried two tops from you that give me major fit issues. The Hip-Cinched Blouse ($98), in its beautiful teal or gold, was already in-stock in Soho this past weekend so I tried it on. This top runs incredibly tight around the hips. Sizing up one or two sizes will be necessary if you have curves like me. I don’t mind changing sizes for the right fit but even after I was in the right size the top still had issues. Sigh. Full review upcoming.

I was warned I’d want to buy more of Anthropologie’s bags. They weren’t kidding. Though I prefer Beracami’s smaller version of this bag — the Steam-Powered Satchel ($288) — this larger cousin the Tawny Shingle Tote ($458) is a pricey leather beauty.

I think I know now why these boots had no price on them at the Color + Print event. At $528, the Regalia Button Boot cross from disposable Anthropologie budget to trust-funded Free People territory. No knock on FP as I love much of their stuff and a good pair of boots is hard to find, but wow. I guess Anthropologie is still pushing the boundaries on price after all. From what I remember the details are certainly there and the leather looked top notch. Truth be told my high riding boots cost around $550 so this may be a fair price. I’ll be watching this item closely to see how it sells.
