Just a quick fitting room OOTD snap today. As the city prepares for snow again I’m well-prepared with mah boots, mah heavy sweater, and mah Deep Woods Toggle Coat. When I first reviewed the coat I noted it might not be warm enough for NYC winters but it has performed admirably for the last two years. I always get a kick when Anthro SAs ask where the coat is from.
I do love winter and I do love snow but I am not a fan of the bitter, biting cold milling through NYC at the moment. Growing up one of my favorite things to do was grab my horse out of his stall, throw a bridle on him and ride him around the ring, sitting on top of his blanket. These days I have no such glory to warm up with. Cinnamon (my pup) enjoys the snow quite a bit and wants to romp around for hours. I find myself wishing that I was up in the country a bit more. Or winning the latest HGTV Dream Home up in Stowe, VT. You know — either or.
This look features my awesome Sorel Caribous, which are very effective for keeping my feet dry and warm but also very heavy. It takes some real effort to get them on and off. They’re a true case of function over form, though once there’s more than 3-4 inches of precipitation on the ground I doubt many people are looking at each other’s feet anyway. Hope you’re staying nice warm through this chilly winter.
My thought was this outfit was warmth first, but I must say that the Split Decision Carigan has been an impulse buy that’s really worked out. It’s nice and long and the purple color is bulky but flattering. It works well over blouses for work and over camis on the weekend. When I get to hot I just unbutton and the look is still nice and continuous. In the coming weeks I’ll be running a series on good closet basics. A warm wool cardigan will certainly be on that list.
