OOTD: Boldly Drenched

2011-01-23_008

We’re getting back into the outfit of the day swing of things! I thought it was hysterical how so many of us wore our Drenched Helenium Tees the other day — we’re truly kindred spirits! I love winter but even I know that the shorter days and general dreariness outside can get to people. So a bold floral is just the thing to lift my spirit. The last couple of weeks were so cold in the city that I just reached for my warmest sweater over and over again. Now that it’s warmed up a bit I can put some thought back into my outfits.

My Birthday Haul is coming up for your review next week but in the meantime this outfit contains a preview of sorts. I had been not-so-secretely oohing and aahing over the Lace Lover’s Booties ($138) from Farylrobin. I was quite pleased when they were one of my presents! The lace is shocking white at the moment but I think it will wear into a lovely antiqued look. They’re super comfortable and are seem to be well-made. Time will tell. Farylrobin is located in the same building in NYC where I used to work during one of the best years of my life. I think as a result I have a bit of a nostalgic fondness for the brand.

While my legs are not the ideal shape for this type of shoe I find using a similarly-colored pair of tights helps to pull everything together. The skirt, a couple of years old from J.Crew, is a versatile piece I’ve previously worn in this OOTD roundup post and this one. My cardigan is also from J.Crew (previously worn here) and you’ll see it again in another outfit soon. I couldn’t resist buying a dream cardigan even though the material is crap. Mine is already pilling up. You just can’t beat the colors. I wish someone else would get a clue so I could upgrade the quality!

My favorite part of this outfit however are the earrings! They’re the Dangling D’Anjou earrings, which I have wanted since they first came out in 2008. I kept them on my wishlist (you know, just in case) and miraculously a pair popped back earlier this month — as in this year, 2011! Where these appeared from I have no clue but I am so happy I managed to grab them. The large green pears really bring out my hazel eyes. It was meant to be, a little birthday nudge from Anthro to me. My ring is similarly fab, but I’ll wait to tell its tale in another post.
