OOTD: Some like it hot, some like it Chilled

Photobombed.

Those evil cackles of glee you hear in New York City are coming from the Financial District — specifically my apartment. Several items I’ve been waiting to see marked down finally went on sale on Anthropologie. All of a sudden my closet is swelling. Too full! I continue to whistle innocently, turn a blind eye and continue to squeeze in Huggable Hangers as my denial only grows. I feel a no-buy may be coming on in Q1 of 2011. (After my birthday, of course.)

One of the items I picked up is the Chilled Ripples Shell (now $60, review here), style #18870048, which my outfit twin Anjali wore just yesterday. It took some playing around before I settled on a look I was happy with. I found it didn’t pair well with my current blazers. I didn’t like the neckline poking out of a sweater as much as I thought I would. So I decided to forgo the top layer altogether. Last week we had one warm day and I pounced. Sleeveless top time!

I paired the ruffly top with shades of pecan and cinnamon. J.Crew’s cord pencil skirts continue to be my winter workhorse skirt. I own it in 3 colors and even my first one that’s almost 4 years old now looks new. These skirts are durable and just the right length for work. They don’t slide up either; they hug my curves perfectly. The necklace was a Forever 21 find — it’s a filigree medallion with faux pearls inset in each petal. Really beautiful. I finished off the look with a pair of old oxford round-toe pumps that I couldn’t find a good photo representation of. The pic I used is pretty close but a darker tone of brown. What’s old is new again.
