Gifts & Prizes Contest Day 4: Anthropologie and Polyvore’s Head-to-(Mistle)toe contest

DAY 4: ANTHROPOLOGIE AND POLYVORE’S HEAD-TO-(MISTLE)TOE CONTEST
Let’s do things a little backwards and start with the contest this morning. Anthropologie reached out to several community blogs asking us to host its Head-to-(Mistle)toe Polyvore contest. I’m thrilled to be hosting one of the contest mini editors!

Here’s how it works:
Fashion enthusiasts will have the opportunity to share their individual flair for styling by creating a holiday look featuring Anthropologie clothing and accessories. Anthropologie can’t wait to see your personal take on the perfect head-to-toe Anthropologie outfit – whether for a cozy weekend indoors baking or a glitzy holiday party.

Five participants will be chosen as the winners based on their submission’s creativity, composition and distinctive style. The lucky winners will each receive a $500 Anthropologie gift card, as well as a feature on Anthropologie’s Facebook page during the week of December 20th.

The contest will run from Wednesday, December 8th through Saturday, December 11th. International entries welcome!

Lucky ducks! You’ll need a Polyvore account to enter. Not a member of Polyvore? You can sign up here (it’s free). I’m thrilled to see what everyone comes up with and started things off with a few sets of my own to inspire. The EA community killed in the last mini editor contest and I predict more of the same this time around. I’ll be featuring some of my favorite sets in an upcoming post after the contest is over.

Anthropologie has plenty of fantastic gift ideas this season. Every year they run a cute gift finder, which is basically a 5-minute quiz that yields carefully selected results. If you like flow charts like me you’ll love this interactive feature. And I have a post coming up this weekend dedicated to their beautiful gift wrap. In the meantime, here are a few gifts under $75 from Anthro’s site bound to please.

I love infinity scarves — no fussing with loose ends caught by the wind. You don’t have to worry as much about inadvertently choking yourself either. The The Grand Tour Loop ($58) is a beautiful sky blue color that will contrast nicely off any gray or black winter coat. It’s acrylic which I’m normally against but in this case it works to keep your neck from itching, plus it keeps the price down.

We discussed Anthropologie’s wonderful collaboration with Le Labo on Monday. But that’s not the only fragrance Anthro carries. Their Happ & Stahns Perfumers Eau De Parfum ($68) has a light, floral smell. It’s lovely, but it’s the bottle that carried my attention. How much do I love the pincushion top? A lot! And yes, the pins are included.

Though marketed as a makeup bag, the Press Camera Makeup Bag ($58) would make a great small purse. It’s got two zipper pockets and a beautiful rose print on it…pardon me drooling over here. The dark grey color is a perfect fit for my winter lifestyle and it’s small enough to carry on a date or a night on the town. I love nights on the town!

The Penguin Clothbound Classics series ($20/each), designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith, is the most beautiful set of books I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks to community help I own the entire set and get to admire them every night in my entertainment center. Even if the whole set isn’t in within reach you can easily pick pretty sets of 2 or 3 books. Display them (and read them) for a beautiful pop of color.

You can use the L’Epice Jar ($4/each) for a spice jar as intended…but the possibilities don’t end there. How about for jewelry storage? Or to hold office supplies? A napkin holder on the table maybe? You get the idea. The earthy color tones just so happens to fit right in with my apartment palette. I feel a birthday gift request coming on!
