OOTD: A little song and dance

I’d like to pretend that every single one of my outfits is a home run, but the truth is some days I just reach for what’s clean and steamed. I am pretty addicted to steaming my shirts — I want no creases! About 4 weeks ago I was saddened to discover that my trusty little steamer would steam no more. It was a sad day indeed, especially since my shirt still had creases. I forced myself not to look down. I’ve since replaced the steamer with this little lookalike. It does the job pretty well and heats up a lot faster than my old steamer. It’s not quite as strong, but for someone space-limited like me it works.

This outfit is so comfortable and revolves around one of my current favorite tops, Gap’s Floral Applique Top. I grabbed it way back in September during one of their 40% off days in both the new cashmere and the beautiful constellation blue color. It’s not a ruffly top! There are no ruffles! Instead it has little fan pleats trickling down one shoulder. The top is very floaty too — the rounded hem catches air. It looks great tucked into a pencil skirt, which I will showcase in an upcoming OOTD with the other color. I do find the blouse slips down over the course of the day so I wore a cami underneath as a precaution.

By accident I discovered that it coordinates quite well with my plum Cashmere Cody Cardigan from J.Crew. It brings out the purple in the blouse and they’re about the same length so I feel more streamlined. A pair of Cole Haan air pumps (sooooo comfy), a long necklace from LOFT and a ring that Noir says is a porcupine but I vote hedgehog round out this look. My steely grey Ibanez bass actually fits in pretty well with this look too. Good job, bass!
