OOTD: Here’s my card

Call me.
Thanks for all the welcome back wishes yesterday! It only gets me more excited about sharing outfits.

Over the past several months networking has become a bigger part of my job. I feel like I’m out there at least once a week, introducing myself to other people in the technology industry and thinking of ways to connect my company’s clients with the right partners. It’s tiring but rewarding — I love learning about new services and thinking of ways to use them. As much as I love this blog my real job is what pays the bills and it always comes first.

The question is always what to wear to rub elbows. We don’t really wear suits in new media. Jeans seem like the unofficial uniform but I want to come off a bit more professional than just denim. The key piece? A blazer. I finally found one I really like, a schoolboy blazer from Club Monaco. I had a hard time finding a blazer that works over my chest but this nice black jacket is perfectly tailored for me right off the rack. It wasn’t a steal by any means but totally worth it. A silk cami with lace accents (shown on a mannequin here) looked great underneath (also from Club Monaco, they really need a full e-commerce site, stat) and to complete the look I put on some pearls with a modern twist from American Eagle. When you feel good about how you look it’s much easier to talk to people. It’s nice to be able to apply my bloggie life to my real one.
