After braving the Thanksgiving Day parade last year, my friends and I opted for a simpler approach this year — heading up into the woods. I got my parade fill yesterday before my flight. I met up with a few friends at the balloon parade up by the Natural History Museum. If you’re thinking of going….DON’T. Holy crap was it ever poorly organized. Huge crowds, very hard to get around, lots of cops telling people where they couldn’t go. The balloons were covered by netting so as not to fly away. I did snap some photos though:

A smurf!
Macy’s Santa
Buzz Lightyear.
Horton.
Doing whatever a spider can.

Pikachu!
I LOVE Po. No lie.
It’s not easy being green when your face is being
smushed into the pavent.
Hard to tell I know, but this is Snoopy on ice skates!

I’ve been hosting a friends Thanksgiving for a few years now. Last year we did a completely vegan meal with a Tofurkey. It was actually pretty good I thought, but most of my friends rejected it. So this year I turned back to Whole Foods for help. I have to give them props. The Tribeca store did such a great job packing up my turkey! So easy to tote back to my apartment.

Awesome packing job, Whole Foods Tribeca.
I did make some vegetarian side dishes though, from a recipe guide the New York Times published earlier this month. My zucchini boats, pumpkin dumplings and stuffed portabellas came out awesome! Cinnamon helped.
Besides the normal things to be thankful for (a roof over my head, a cool job, wonderful family, friends and pup, macgruff to watch the comments for me) I’m also so thankful to have you and the rest of the community to chat all things fashion with. Thanks for stopping by, leaving comments and participating in the discussions. Cheers to you and yours! Happy Thanksgiving.
