I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.
This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be!
Some FAQs….
– What does “sub” mean?
It means that people are subscribing to the comment thread. You can do this by checking the “send follow-up comments to x email address” box in the comment form.
– Someone in the comments said they wanted to buy an item from me, but it’s been x hours and I haven’t heard squat. What should I do?
I give people 24 hours for the benefit of the doubt. After that move on to the next person that contacted you.
– Someone said they returned an item at the store 20 minutes ago but I just called the store and it’s gone. What gives?!?
A store associate might have taken a fancy to it or a customer might have grabbed it. Maybe it’s just at the bottom of a big ol’pile. Unfortunately, you’re out of luck.

Hi~! I was just at the Anthro in Woodcliff Lake, NJ and they had a size 14 Wright dress in their sale section (I think for $89.95). As I was leaving I saw that another girl was returning what may have been a size 8 or 10. They also had a bunch of field game cardigans in grey and navy only, but in all sizes. Also saw a Serengeti dress in a size 0. Not in their sale section–the two wheeler dress (sorry didn't get the sizes). Hope this helps someone! Happy Friday!

You have to be signed in somehow (Google/OpenID) before you can subscribe to posts. This is how it's always been, unless I am misunderstanding your question. Anonymous commenters or name/URL commenters cannot subscribe.

But, in the past, I used to be able to comment, sign in, and subscribe all in the same post. Now, I can only comment and sign in at the same time (there's no longer a check-the-box to also subscribe). The Santana Row (San Jose, CA) store had a few Botanical Stroll dresses in their sale section yesterday. Definitely a size 2 in them but not sure of the others.For those in the area curious to try them on before buying, every one of the Nathalie Lete pieces were out on the floor in Santana Row. I returned a Picture-perfect Clogs sz 6.5 on University Village (WA) on Wed. I agree with that warning on the page of the product that says it runs big(I may be the only one who agrees). Question please – just received my Field Game Cardi from ordering it online. When taking it out of the bag, it has a distinct petroleum odor to it! Has anyone else experienced this?It says it is made in China, but I don't know what they could have made it of/ soaked it in? It is gorgeous but the petroleum smell is pretty strong.Heidi

@anon 3:53. I have done it and they were fine with it at my anthro. Unfortunately, the dress I'd gotten as a popback was too old and they wouldn't sell it to the community member I held it for. @ Heidi – I had the same problem! I had offered the Caranday dress in green on EA but said that it had a smoke smell. I ended up returning it to the store, and told them about the weird smell. It did smell like petroleum rather than smoke, but smoke was the only thing I could think of at the time. One CS told me that sometimes it was the dye lots that made them smell weird and another said it was the packaging.

heidi:We used to be able to access popback pages by searching google but Anthro now delete sold out/low item links from website. You can only see them now (i think) if someone made their wish list public or it's in your cart/wish list. My field game cardi did have smell but I just hand wash it and smell is barely there.

Thanks for the comments about the Field Game/ odors. It does concern me a bit that others have noticed a smell too (one that seems to linger at least a bit after washing, as some said).I noticed a number of similar comments about a petroleum smell related to a dress on Anthro's site that was made in India. My question is, as consumers, do we need to be concerned about the dyes, processing, etc. or whatever is creating the odor, when the items are produced in other countries? I know that other countries don't have as stringent standards as the US. I do care about my health, and am kind of wondering if it is something that could be a health concern. I don't know.
Heidi – I think the safest approach is that if something doesn't smell right, pass on it. When I tried on the June, July, August Dress in the feather pattern I noticed a horrible smell, and as a result it went right back to the rack. As far as items sourced in the US/elsewhere, I try to speak with my wallet whenever possible. I'm much more likely to buy something made in the USA then anywhere else.

Hope so!I also wanted to let people know that the "It's Your Move" Skirt (cupcake skirt) in a size 4 is showing up in my wishlist as available. RE weird smells: I recall reading an article, about washing new clothes before you wear them, mentioning that factories often spray a ton of pesticides in the factory itself and in the shipments as well to eliminate importing any foreign bugs and also to keep the clothes from getting ruined by said bugs. I don't know if this is where the smell comes from but I too have had the same experience with chemical-y smelling items shipped from UO & Anthro.

Anonymous, thanks for posting that re/ pesticides. It is troublesome, if true, that they spray pesticides on clothing or close enough to make them smell terrible – I go out of my way to avoid pesticides in our home due to the health risks! And, they don't just wash out, unfortunately. :(((Not sure what this was, but it was a very petroleum-based smell, much like oil or gasoline. Sad!Heidi
I got a whiff of chemicals when I opened the plastic packaging containing my Field Game cardigan this morning – robust like petrol. It is still noticeable in the material after a few hours out of the plastic. I don't recall the same smell when I tried the cardigan on in the B&M, likely because it had been airing in the store. I am always weary of Anthro's glazed dining and kitchen items (i.e., mugs, bowls) depending on where the item was manufactured – which is too bad. In any event, the cardigan will be returned.

I just got back from the Beverly Hills Anthro. They had free flow tanks in the blush color in M and L. There were tons of buds and bunches tees in many sizes and colors, the cockadoodle dress in 10 and 12. They also had the Weave-the-Ring Skirt in many sizes as well. I don't know the name, but there was an interesting blue jacket that Roxy tried on as a shirt a number of months ago. It has a peplum and hook and eye closures — it's on 2nd markdown to $29.95 (but it's not a surprise it isn't selling, as it is really short — and I'm short-waisted — and it runs pretty small).

Boston (Boylston st) store had a LOT of Rising Vapors dresses in both colorways. But if you're looking for an XS in the dark gray, the Filene's Basement down the street had one for $29.95 (on the Urban Outfitters/Anthro rack in the misses dept, close to the bathing suits). Also saw: purple Recital cardigan in L, Abronia skirt in sizes 0-6, some sale swimwear. My score of the day: a Reed shirtdress in Kelly for $9.95. The girl who rang me up said it was returned this morning, and the whole staff was lamenting that none of them were the right size. The sleeves are a little snug for me, but I'm not going to pass it up at that price!

Hey, I know this is sort of off topic, but I wasn't sure were to post.I recently bought the Tecolote Tank and noticed the flowers around the edge are ever so slightly frayed. While I think it adds to the charms as it is, I don't want them to get any worse or fall apart. I seem to remember reading something on here about a fabric protecting spray. Does anyone know anything about this and where to buy? Thanks!

Yep! I would test it on a small spot on the inside of the shirt first. Then once you're confident it won't stain (it almost never does), spray it lightly over the flowers.

Meg,It's a really light orange, but you can definitely tell in front of you that one is orange and one is pink. I know that doesn't help much.

Katie, can you confirm that all Anthro stores will have these items on sale? I asked at our NC store today and was told the only thing going on sale tomorrow are a few accessories. hs – I can't confirm that all stores will be having a sale, I just didn't ask. This was at the Georgetown Anthropologie in DC. The SA was super nice and honored the sale prices on the Sealed Envelope WideLegs and Keeping Tabs Tee for me, so they are def. marked down. This is not typically a store that marks things down outside of the "normal" markdowns so I would only assume it was company wide.HTH 🙂
Oh, and the Weisshorn Blouse & Chiminu Kata Tank were marked down too!

Heidi – they had the navy in the markdown pile. There were only 3 left, and I *THINK* one was a small (one was an XL). These had not been marked yet, but the top was a green and was marked, if that makes sense. I would wait until tomorrow to do anything like Roxy said. It looked like they were moving all of the markdowns off the floor so I don't think it will sell this afternoon.

Thank you Alexandra for posting about the Blooming Lattice Cardi's – I was able to call the CT store and do a charge send at the sale price – whoohoo!!! I've been holding out for this one for forever now!Megan – I did reveiw the Hallowed Halls Oxfords online, but here are some details that might help you – I am also a 5/6, and can easily wear my 7 year olds size 3 sneakers, lol. Anyway, I did not find these shoes to run small as other reviewers have noted, to me they fit like all of the other 6's in my closet. My foot is approx 8.5 inches and the shoe measure approx 10 inches – it was hard to measure with the heel, but hopefully you can compare this to something else in your closet to see if it will work. You can pull the laces for a tighter fit width wise if you needed to, also. I absolutely love them!
Well Heidi, I guess other shops are honoring the price or at least holding the cardis so you might as well try!
Heidi: the Blooming Lattice Cardi's were marked down and already in the sale room at the North Brunswick,NJ Anthro. There were 4 navy and a couple of green. Not sure of the sizes. All the stuff mentioned by Katie was already in the sales room there.Good Luck.

hey there **JAN RUSSELL**THANKS so much for the insight! my foot measures 8.5 inches too and i can fit size 3 sneakers too ;D haha my usual size sounds like it would fit perfect! one more thing, if you don't mind, my foot is just a tiny bit wider than a normal 6 (sometimes this affects sizing for my square feet!) would you say they run narrow or a medium width shouldn't have much of an issue?THANKS again JAN….you rock! have a great day :0)♥Meg
Meg – sounds like we are foot twins, mine are also on the wider side, and the HHO are perfectly comfy – not too tight in the least. Hope they work for you if you decide to try them 🙂
So I don't know if anyone will be interested, but I just thought I'd throw this out there. I just returned a size 4 Fifth Form Shift with a damaged zipper to the Houston Westheimer store. I got a discount on it and was going to have the zipper replaced, but I needed a larger size (which I obtained – thanks Kristin!)Also spotted was a single, somewhat beat up looking Sweeping Frills sweater in S in the green. Fairly certain this one is down to $9.95 (but ask the SA to check because it was still marked at $59.95. OH, and the tag attached to it was for a size Large). Also, one size S Bougainvillea Cardigan.That's all that really stuck out in my head.

The Chelsea Market NYC store had a few Blooming Lattice Cardigans in both colours mostly in S, a blue in XS and a green in M.They also had a few Herb Field Cardigans in S and XS only.Also they had the Keeping Tabs Tee but I didn't see the sizes sorry.The sale room was generally well-stocked so I would give them a call if you needed anything: 212-620-3116
I was just at the Carmel, CA store last weekend and their sale section is stacked with stuff I never run into at the SF store. I saw at least one Fifth Form shift, which I've seen some people here looking for (although now I'm not remembering the size, sorry). I also saw several Torsade Tees, including the red and blue colorways, and they definitely had smaller sizes in those. If you're looking for something it might be worth it to give that store a call.
Also, as of today the SF store still had a couple green Blooming Lattice cardigans in XS, and the Herb Fields Cardigan in both XS and L (they may have had other sizes as well, but those are the ones I came across). They also had a fair number of yellow Vappu and In A Twinkling dresses (kinda cold in SF for those two) so it might be worth a shot there if you're looking for a 0/2.
