Styled: Field Game Cardigan

Time to get back to it! A styling post from EA intern Rebekah (for the Cooling Palette Dress) is on the way later today. First up I shook of the dust with the Field Game Cardigan (now $60, style #013000), a popular piece in the community. This post was requested by Lauren S. I gave each colorway a shot and styled the cardi for now, mixing in lighter colors in the rest of the outfit.

First up is the ubiquitous blue colorway. The goal for me is to create a long, lean shape in my outfits. So here I chose a nice long tank to wear under the cardigan that can either be tucked into the skirt or worn peeking out from under the cardi. If you want to streamline your shape even more swap out the pink here with the blue version.

Since it’s summer I thought lighter shoes were in order and a light-colored purse keeps this outfit from being too heavy via the cardigan. The owl posts provide the necessary whimsy for any Anthropologie outfit. Wear this look to school, work, or just for fun.

Dungaree Petals Clip ($15)

I have two variations of this second option — one with skinny pants and one with wide legs. For this look I was looking for something with a cowlneck to complement the cardigan. Though the top doesn’t have red in it there are close enough tones to work and a nice summery print.

The skinny pants give this look a more urban feel. I chose the darker wash because that’s what I lean towards, but there’s also a beige wash that would work for those of you trying to avoid dark at all costs for summer. Choose a matching a pair of shoes to keep the leg line long. I prefer flats with skinnier legs, though heels could also work. Light accessories around the face help keep the feeling light.

For the wide-leg version, I changed out the accessories with items that are both summer and fall-appropriate. Since this version of the cardigan is mainly red look for warm brown, yellow and green tones to match with it. (Avoid too much green though unless you want to end up being ready for Christmas in July.) If you’re shorter, choosing a fancier neckline brings the attention upwards to your face while the wide legs lengthen visually.

The grey version is probably the most summer-ready. I picked a bold top for underneath that you can choose to: 1 – cover up except for the bow and collar; 2 – belt the cardi open to leave the tuxedo placket exposed or 3 – switch out for another top altogether. This look ended up a bit more dressed up — I couldn’t resist the combination of the skirt and the pretty shoes.

A little red and yellow in the accessories pulls out the color in the top. If you prefer a simpler look do away with the necklace. This option would be great for work or a date.
