Guest post: Reviews by Krameymartin

(Note from roxy: Please welcome the stylish Krameymartin for this guest review post! Her OOTD’s are some of my all-time faves.)

Hey Effortless Anthropologie readers! I’m so excited to be posting a few recent reviews here in Roxy’s domain. This site has been such an awesome resource for me, as I’m sure it has been for you! I headed into my Anthropologie this Sunday for the first time in a couple weeks and was a little surprised to see the sale items still front and center, but I guess it makes sense considering how many markdowns came in such a short amount of time. Anyway, I skipped the sale racks this time and headed straight for the newer, full priced items.

The first piece I tried on was the Tiny Windows Dress ($118, Size 4). I had loved it on a few other Anthro ladies but wasn’t sure how it would work on me in person. When I grabbed it off the rack, I was even more unsure as it wasn’t the material I was expecting. However, once I slid this baby on, it was love at first zip. It fit like a dream, made my boyish waist look teeny tiny and hit at just the right length. This one will definitely be making it to my closet someday soon. Wishlisted!

The next piece I snagged was the June, July, August Dress ($148, Size Small). Though it seemed like just another jersey dress, I decided to give it a try. While it was comfortable and I do like the print, it really did turn out to be just another jersey dress, at least on me. If I didn’t already have two or three lovely jersey numbers to choose from in my closet, I might consider it. But for now, this one’s a pass. Roxy tried on this dress here.

Despite my undying excitement for the Time Gone By Dress ($128, Size 4), this dress and I just were not meant to be. I guess I should have known, when the color swatch showed up as “peach” instead of ivory or white, that this dress would indeed prove to be the exact same shade of my skin in person. Besides the color, the finishes were lovely, however, I think this piece was meant for a much tanner and more thin-waisted individual. I felt the bodice made me look a bit wide. Pass for me, but someone else must buy it so I can live vicariously.

This look, made up of the Chantico Tank ($88, Size Medium) and the Hello Sunday Blazer ($98, Size Small) was styled on the rack, so I went ahead and tried it on together. I ended up loving the rich green color of the tank, and definitely liked the medium better than the small I tried on previously. The blazer was super cute and fit perfectly everywhere except my elbows. It was far too tight when I bent my arms, however, the rest was so perfect I wouldn’t want to have sized up. Boo! Tank to the wishlist, blazer not so much.

These two pieces, the Mossy Atoms Skirt ($148, Size Medium) and Scalinata Top ($78, Size 4) weren’t even on my list of things to try on, but they both caught my eye in the store and I decided they would look pretty cute together. The top has little gold dots all over it, which you can’t really see online and the ruffles are quite lovely on the front. The skirt is a beautiful color and the dots on it are really cute! I’m not totally sure about the waistband, and I’m not convinced I’d pay full price for either of these items, but they were both a pleasant surprise! I’d definitely size down to a small in the skirt though.

My final “outfit,” made up of the AG Stevie Skinny ($164, Size 28) and the Breeze Along Cami ($78, Size 6) is a case of good jeans gone wrong. Ignoring my instinct that I should probably size up, I mistakenly grabbed my actual size in WHITE, SKINNY jeans. Not sure what I was thinking, but the result, obviously, was thighs that look like breakfast sausages squeezed into their casings. The jeans were actually quite adorable in theory, but I was far too distracted by the tightness around the knees to think of the good points. The cami however, was gorgeous and I can’t wait to get that melon hued beauty into my closet! I’ll definitely size down to a 4 when it comes time to buy though, as the 6 sat too low on my back and the straps were falling off my shoulders. All in all, though I left empty-handed, it was a successful trip to Anthro! I can now edit my wishlist a little more and save up for those pieces I really love and look good in. Thanks to Roxy for letting me guest post and come visit me in my neck of the woods sometime! Ciao!

Great Reviews! I had the same issue with the blazer perfect everywhere else but tight in the elbows, such a shame because it's beautiful.

I am also in love with the Tiny Windows dress, it is on the TOP of my wishlist. It really is very flattering on. I really liked the June, July, August dress on Anthro's site but now I feel kinda meh about it. I guess I will just have to try it on. Great reviews!

I actually really like the Time Gone By dress on you. I ordered it but have been putting off trying it on because I'm worried about the same thing — it's about the same color I am, so I think it'll probably wash me out. But it's so pretty!I also wasn't sold on the Hello Sunday blazer before seeing your pic, and now it's on my wishlist. Thanks for the great reviews!

Thanks for reviewing some gorgeous dresses! I've had my eye on several of them but I don't live anywhere near an Anthro store, so I definitely appreciate having some photos/reviews to help me decide which ones to order.

Does the jacket fit zipped up? It is still at the top of my wishlist. It is what I want the most!

Great reviews. Call me crazy, but I think the Time Gone By dress looks great on you – definitely a different color than your skin tone, I think it actually flatters it. Love the jacket, but too bad about the tight elbows!

I already told you this, but I love the Tiny Windows Dress on you! I tried on the Mossy Atoms Skirt in a small and it was still a little big on me. You might want to try the XS just to see if it works.

i too think the time gone by dress looks so lovely on you. it doesn't make you look wide at all. also, i think the white AGs look hot but i like skinnies skinny!

Hi! Just wanted to drop a note that I found this dress on a wholesale asian fashion websitehttp://fashion4us.com/wholesale-fashion-detail.action?id=59035that looked very similar to the time gone by dress! Funnily enough, I think this existed before the Anthro one came out, but the similarities are uncanny!
