This week has featured zero markdowns on Anthropologie’s website but lots of new items to drool over. The April catalogue is up and it is amazing — more on it this weekend. The photo at the top of this post is my favorite due to the wonderful Leifsdottir skirt featured. That would be the Coming & Going Skirt ($198) which I tried on last weekend. The yellow is quite bright even in real life; the pictures above are dark because I was stuck in Soho’s cave fitting room.
I sized up to a 10 for these shots. It zipped but barely. This skirt is cut slim everywhere — through the butt, hips and thighs. I would size up again to a 12 to buy it. I adore all the pleating and diagonal strips on this skirt! I wish though that the ruffles were not there. To me it makes the skirt look a bit juvenile. Also note that the top ruffle is cut asymmetrically. I felt this made the skirt look crooked. Still I applaud the overall risks taken on this piece. It’s not boring! Plus yellow and white polka dots is one of my all-time favorites. Leifsdottir often gets knocked for using thin materials but I found the cotton fine and the lining decent. I have this one wishlisted for now but will wait for sale.
Next I tried the skirt’s photo partner, the Slow Melt Tank ($88). Now I see why this top was tucked in. It’s rather shapeless on its own. This Edme & Esyllte top comes in “grey” on me (looked light blue) and a darker shade of blue. I’m getting a strong sailor vibe from this one. I like how the collar isn’t as obvious from the back. No flat square shape, it tailors into a more modern soft triangle. The material is light slippery silk.
I tried on the size 6 which was very roomy. I would size down to a 4 to buy. While I liked how Anthro styled it I can’t see fitting this one into my own wardrobe. Back to the rack.
It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for Edme & Esyllte’s To The Sun Blouse ($78) to appear in stores. I was thrilled to finally catch it! I reached for the medium which was silly. I know this brand runs big. I was swimming in the top. Even with the roominess I was somewhat disappointed by this top. The overall shapelessness left me feeling wide and frumpy. The sleeves are also very poufy in real life. On the plus side, I really like the pattern on this shirt (a flock of birds flying across the sun) and the v-neck is cut high enough so that I would not need a cami underneath. This one is staying on my wishlist for further consideration at sale time.
I love the Comming & Going skirt – thanks for reviewing it! Too bad for the hefty price tag too – and they even have a beautiful blue version I'm drooling over too.
Is the blue version on the website? I noticed a few items are only showing up as one-color on the product page but multiples in the catalogue, like the Ipanema Dress which is also available in cream through the catalogue.
Ohhh, I love that Coming & Going skirt. But not $200 love it. Phooey. (It does look great on you though, Roxy!)
The Coming & Going Skirt looks really great on you. But I'm sad because I will be sized out of it, if you have to go up to a 12 to wear it, I won't be able to wear it because I usually wear a 10 in skirts so the 12 will probably won't fit me :'( Hopefully if I visit a store it will be there and I can see for myself if it will fit.
Thank you for the reviews, and *chokes* – there are more pretty new arrivals on the site. The lavender lacey lanes top is mine. And the Botanical Stroll dress – gorgeous!!!! and machine washable.
The skirt is adorable!steph
Love the skirt, Roxy. It looks great on you. I am crazy for Leifsdottir.
I just love that Leifsdottir skirt! Why must they keep me away with their sky-high prices?!
Leifsdottir has the sky-blue version of the Comming & Going skirt on their website as a part of their La Louisianne collection, though I think I prefer the punchy yellow version. The unreleased colorways of certain pieces intrigues me as well, I can't wait for them to release the blue version of the Drifting by Dress & the green Beda dress.
Ooohh that skirt! I saw it in store on a new display yesterday and it's TO DIE FOR in person. I purposely did not allow myself to try it on because I didn't want to drool and hope over a $200 skirt, lol!
Oooh, cute skirt! But I can definitely sense the juvenile vibe. Agree – wait for sale item. Loooove top no. 2!! I think it's beautiful! It would probably only work well tucked in, but it'd be fab with a pencil skirt!!!!
^ LOL @ Chloe. For some reason the word 'phooey' makes me LOL every time.
I love the Leifsdottir skirt! Hate the price tag :(.Anon – Drifting By dress in blue???! Where did you see that? And how on earth did I miss it…
^ Lauren, according to CS there is also a blue version of the dress, I think the catalog also says that it is available in other colors.
