Styled: Always a Lady Skirt

Anthropologie at ShopStyle

This post is for Laura, who asked to see outfits featuring the Always A Lady Skirt ($148).

This skirt is so delicate and pretty that it’s hard to go any other way with it. For the first outfit we played up the prettiness even more. The sleeveless cowlneck top is a simple but elegant touch that gives some visual interest without going over the top. We paired it with a cardigan that also has some play but since it’s one color the effect is muted. If you’d rather have fewer layers on top look for a sweater that has a cowlneck similar to that of the top we used. Colorwise we’d go for warm mixes of red and purple (cranberry, aubergine, etc.). Ivory is another great choice on top for this outfit; it’s very soft and adds an almost angelic quality to the look.

Since we all know the wear-them-once-or-twice Berry Bush Tights ($18) go with the skirt we suggested a different pair of tights. Some vintage-like jewelry accents and a frilly purse top off this look. We chose a low pair of heels since the skirt has some flash to it.

In this outfit:
Always A Lady Skirt ($148)
Crimpled Cardigan ($78)
Tagalong Tee ($48)
Milly Peep-Toes ($98)
Striped Tights ($18)
Frill-Seeker Satchel ($328)
Starlit Stem Earrings ($28)
Smoky Petals Necklace ($178)
Vintage Watch ($228)

We went bolder in color for the second option. You can’t go wrong with a jewel-toned blue and we love the lacework in the blouse which complements the skirt nicely. We’d recommend against belting the blouse in case because it might be too hard against the skirt. We found a nice cashmere cardigan to throw over the blouse when it’s cold. The ruffle is understated and doesn’t compete with either the blouse or the skirt.

We like the buttery leather purse but recommend you remove the bow for this outfit. We used the same tights as in option 1, just in a different color. (Tricky us.) And instead of heels this time we went with booties — a second curveball in this look-at-me outfit.

In this outfit:
Always A Lady Skirt ($148)
F21 Lace Yolk Blouse ($18)
Illuminate Wedges ($158)

Striped Tights ($18)
Frenesi Posts ($28)

Thank you so much for styling the Always a Lady Skirt for me 🙂 I love the combinations you came up with, they're beautiful and I actually have the sweater in the first one already so that's helpful. Once again, thank you!!

I have this skirt and I like your outfits choices. I think the suggestion of the blue top is a nice idea. I have to say I did put my charcoal leather jacket over everything the first time I wore it. Laura hope you love it as much as I do. Anyway, I agree the ivory is a nice choice too. I have found trying to put a lighter grey cardi or tights doesn't work as the skirt is more an almost lavender and the greys clash. I did put my J.Crew Merino Melanie cardi in dark grey as the mix of textures and the little vintagey gold buttons worked. I think dark grey tights like in the first pic (I did ribbed sweater tights and wine colored ankle booties) work. Anyway thanks for the post! Oh and sorry this is so long! Hi Roxy,I really like the first combination you made! I wasn't really interested in that skirt but now I put it on my wishlist 🙂 Do you own it btw? The rest of my order from Anthro came today from the last sale, and I freaking loved everything! Drenched Helenium Tee, Paragon Top, Carmen Tieback they are awesome. Did you see the Prized Bloom Blouson and Emerald Cascade Blouse that was put online today? I really want them, did you have a chance to try them yet at the store?

Sydneygirl — great feedback! I love the long, detailed comment. Keep it coming. :)Stephanie — Yay! How exciting. I caved and bought the Paragon Top over the weekend and I have to agree it's pretty damn fab. I loved the Carmen Tieback when I tried it on so I'm glad you're happy with it. I have not seen either of those tops but I am on the road for work this week so I "only" stopped in Soho briefly yesterday. Hee. I will be going to look for new stuff this weekend though, so if there's anything else I should look for let me know. Unfortunately I've been coming up goose eggs on the requests lately, Anthro seems to be stalling putting out new stock at the moment.

thanks Roxy 🙂 I was a bit embarrassed to write so much…I actually am wearing this skirt today but went sort of classic as it is cold/I was tired – J.Crew chiffon roses tee in white, BR charcoal cable sweater tights, J.Crew Tilly Cashmere Cardi (7 gauge dark charcoal, burgundy red Fluevog Mini Lover Boots, Anthro grey scarf with floral line print on it (gone from site now but also came in light blue green print in green and pale peach with darker orange). Anyway….this skirt is so nice and soft and warm if my cat found it I'm sure she'd enjoy it too….(not!)
