A steal of a deal

Every so often I get really lucky and score a steal at Anthropologie. I have no idea what this necklace is called or if it ever made it to the website. But it’s been taunting me from the glass jewelry case at Soho and (until recently) 5th Ave. I tried it on once knowing it would look great over my Corby Shift. But it was $168. Flash forward to Monday. I’m in the Soho Anthropologie and the necklace has moved to the Sale case. OK, I told myself. If it’s half price that’d be an awesome deal. The tag was turned down so I couldn’t tell.

One of the staffers opens the case and I see the price: $30. Over 80% off. I could not contain my glee! I love it when these happy things happen. A couple more shots are below, but this led me to wonder what’s the best deal you’ve ever gotten? Doesn’t have to be an Anthropologie item. My best non-Anthro score ever was a DVF top that I got at Scoop. Original price $288, final sale price $49. I’m mostly a full-price shopper but I still love me a bargain.

Mine is non-fashion related but I bought a 600 dollars down comforter for 100 bucks 2.5 years ago, I was excited because it was really good quality and I needed a good one when I moved up north coming from Miami, It was also my first winter ever.

OMG, Roxy, that necklace is gorgeous! You deserve a good deal for all the work and effort you put into this blog. One of the best deals I can remember getting at anthro was a Leifsdottir cashmere cardigan for $20. Wait, I take that back, I think it was the best deal I ever got at Anthro. Sure, it is one size too big, but I don't care, I love it!

Jeez Roxy, that necklace is *awesome*! I love it. Congrats on getting an amazing deal :)The best deal I've ever gotten at Anthro is probably the Whooo Are You Dress (the one with little fairies printed all over it) and the Northern Crown Blouse for just $10 each.

Anjali– Did you get those items at the PA store? I got the Leifsdottir cardigan there. The PA store has the BEST MARKDOWNS. I go to PA just to brown the sale rack there because I love me a good bargain.

That's a beautiful necklace and awesome deal! My best score, which is also an Anthro score has to be when I got the Eastern Flyaway Coat for $49.95. This coat retailed for $228, so I was suspicious of the price scrawled in red on the tag. But it was hanging there on the sale rack, all by its lonesome so I asked a SA who said it was $49.95. Brought it down to the register and it rung up as $149.95 . . . oh. But then the manager agreed that the writing looked like $49.95 so I was able to get it for that price!

Absolutely gorgeous necklace – congrats on the great deal!My all-time best score was a stunning ruby-red Italian satin sheath from Barneys. Retail price = $600. Got it at Filene's Basement in DC for $25. I've worn it to several black tie events and gotten a bazillion compliments on it. My best Anthro bargain was a beautiful Leifsdottir sweater last fall – I don't know what it was called, but it's cream-colored with a beautiful windowpane pattern overlaid with pale pink and grey butterflies. Original price $328, on sale for $69. Still love it and wear it all the time.

On a happier note, my best deal ever was an $1100 ballgown from the old flagship Marshall Fields in Chicago (marked down to $100!). I wore it to prom and felt like a princess.

I love reading these steals, makes my thrifty heart go pitter patter… My best deal dollar wise was the Henkels 13 piece knife set I got at Williams Sonoma that was listed at $1200. I bought it, cringing, at $500, but two weeks later I got it price adjusted when it went down to $250. !!! Percent wise, my best deal was from BR, a gorgeous cashmere cable sweater with a cowl that was originally $268, down to $20 with 25% off, so $16. I even took pictures of the tag to commemorate the deal! Good times.
