Sale prices lower in-store?

Hidden Sprigs Dress

Over the last couple of days I’ve received several tips that sale items are priced lower — in some cases MUCH lower — in-store than online. I swung by one of the NYC Anthros and can now corroborate this. Below is a list of additional items that I’ve either seen myself or had tips sent in about. If you know of any other items feel free to add them in the comments. I’ll update the post if necessary.

If anyone has seen the Chloe skirt on sale in store I would appreciate a heads-up. Also, when I was in the store Saturday the SA told me that it is quite common for things to be on sale in store and not online, and for cheaper sale prices in store, too.

I've been noticing this for a long time – I think things sell out quicker online vs. stores and if things aren't moving in the store, they need to clear them out to make room for the new arrivals they get 3 times a week!I picked up the Color Drenched Dress for $39.95 and I'm trying to find the Caranday Dress in Red size 2 for that price – if anyone sees it, please let me know!~kim

Kim, I saw Carandays in red at Rockefeller Center over the weekend. Not sure on sizes…I know they had 4s but not sure of 2s. I am going there tomorrow night, but if you want to call them before their number is (212) 246-0386‎.

$40 for the Caranday dress??? I missed out on it when it went on sale online, so if anyone sees a size 4 or 6 in green, let me know! Thanks!laurenhiggs@gmail.com

Seriously, the Bold Boutonniere Dress for $69.95? I am going to call customer service then and see I can track a size 0.Thanks Roxy!

That just tempted me to go into the store. I'll be sad though since I paid full price for some of the items that just went on sale. I bought them more than a month ago, so I don't think I'll be able to get a price adjustment.

roxy – if you would look for the Caranday in a 2 for me tomorrow night, I'd greatly appreciate it! thanks!

I work in receiving at Anthropologie, and yes, many apparel items have been drastically reduced to make way for our huge incoming shipments of holiday clothing! Things do tend to sell out much faster online, and to make much-needed space on the sales floor, we're trying to move a lot of sale merchandise out the door.I was VERY surprised to see prices so low, especially the Puckered Scoopneck. That was a best seller at my store even at $58, so I have a feeling that they'll be gone by tomorrow at $9.95!

Hi Roxy,Do you mind telling me which NYC Anthro you visited? I usually go to the Rockefeller Ctr one, but I haven't noticed any differences between its sale prices and the online ones. I may need to start frequenting a different Anthro!

Boo! I don't live near an Anthro so I have to rely on online… 🙁

Stopped by the Tucson store on the way home. They had tons of the Hidden Sprigs dress and several of the other pieces mentioned here at the lower prices. For those looking, they had a full rack of the Sidestep Skirt for $19.95.

Autumn — The store in Scottsdale, AZ had some in XS in the brown motif. I called CS earlier and they gave me three stores — AZ was one of them. I found one in CT. I didn't call the AZ store, so they might still have them. It's worth giving them a call. Here's the number:480-947-3101.

    Thank you, Diem!

Torture, I tell you, just torture for us folks that are Anthro-less in our cities…

That is such a bummer to hear–I live in Hawaii…where there is no Anthro to go into! Well, I guess thats great for everyone else!

  19. November 5, 2009 / 3:40 am

Good luck Jacquelyn, Rosa, Autumn and ali! I will keep my eyes open for your sizes as well. Don't forget you can do a store search by calling Anthro directly: 1·800·309·2500.Kim – Absolutely, I will check on the Caranday in a 2 in red.Joy – it was the 5th Ave Anthro this time around. Barret – thank you so much for sharing the inside story. It's great to know the reason behind the shifts. :)Diem – you're awesome!Anon, Lacey and Valerie, I feel your pain. When I lived in Colorado the closest Anthro was a couple of hours away.kristin – I'm happy your store had the lower prices! Hopefully you came home with some goodies.

And try calling Online CS to adjust the price by quoting the lower prices in the stores. I was told by the CS person that the item is currently SOLD out in all the stores, so they can't adjust — i was within 14 days — my price to store sale price. Of course they it would've sold out in the stores for the sale price of $9.95 from my online price $69.95, which I paid! So I have a choice to return it at the store or keep it. Boo!

on the contrary, I found the stretching acres cardigan to be cheaper online than instore for $19.95 vs $39.95, respectively. This was as of last week tho. I was soo happy the store could price match for me.

Thank You so much for this post! I just bought the Guimard dress on-line last week for 69.95. I just called customer serivce for a PA and they couldn't have been nicer. The website now reflects the in store sale price of 29.95 but they gave me a PA with no problem.Jen

I just bought the green Caranday Dress in store for 89.95 about one week ago. I wish I had seen it for that price!

Monica — if it has been less than 14 days, you can ask them for a price adjustment.

Yesterday I bought the Guimard Dress in both an XS and a S at the super sale price because I haven't decided yet which fits better. I've noticed they both have small holes in the fabric though- has anyone had problems with the quality of this dress? I guess at such a low price its worth it regardless!

ali Today I saw the Guimard dress in the brown motif at the Santa Monica store. They had several Mediums, and also several XSs, for those who are looking for that colorway. For some reason the tags still said "69.95" but I'm sure they'd honor the 29.95 price. The number there is (310) 393-4763. good luck!

  31. November 6, 2009 / 4:25 pm

Kat, I was going to buy the red version but I noticed the two left in-store both had holes in them. I have had no problems with my brown motif version though. Which color were you looking at?

It was the blue-brown motif with the holes- they are small (but probably going to get bigger with each wear!). I think I'll keep one anyways, now I just have to decide which size :). So cute.
