OOTD: I can keep it!

I am about to embark on a new budget. The goal is to pay down all my debt…well, it’s going to take awhile. But to keep myself from going crazy in can’t-buy-this-or-that hell I’ve also allowed myself a small spending budget. My criteria for keeping clothing items is pretty simple: I have to be able to think of three ways to wear it.

And then there are items like the Winged Victory Top ($68, review here) which I wanted for no other reason than just to have a really pretty top. For a bit I was disappointed with myself — when in the world would I wear this top? Me and strapless aren’t exactly friends. Life is so hard, etc.

So I called up a couple of gal pals and explained that we needed to have a ladies’ night ASAP, and that it had to include dancing. My friends, being the lovely ladies that they are, were in! And so I have not only a reason to wear this top, but a reason to shake it in the photos too!

Best of all? I can shake it for day too.

I must ask if the subway sign in the back is vintage or a reproduction? If vintage, where did you snag it from? Thanks. Also, great styling with the top.

I want this top now thanks to you. I never would have given it a second look if you had not tried it on!

Thank you Kim! I am about to say this over on your blog but I LURRRVE your OOTD today.JenLynn – it's a reproduction that I bought from Pottery Barn a few years ago. I think it's called something straightforward like the Subway Sign. Then I had it mounted. Have I mentioned that I heart text art? It's the copy editor/page designer in me. :)Tien – that is such a lovely compliment. Thank you so much!

That's a wonderful outfit AND a really good budgeting criteria to stick to! I think I shall use the same for the Cascading Leaves dress. With three reasonable and different ways to wear it, it shall be MINE! 😀

love, love, LOVE! Very cute + very danceable!Since you've put yourself on a budget (good for you girl!) you should host a Naked Lady party. If you haven't heard of it, it's where a group of girls get together and bring all of their clothes that don't fit or that they no longer wear (essentially anything headed to Goodwill) and swap them over cocktails and snacks! Read more here: <a href="http://tiny.cc/5sqfPhttp://tiny.cc/5sqfP<br />Oh my, wouldn't it be swell if all of your readers could get together and host an *all Anthropologie* naked lady party? Wow. I am now lost in my own fantasy of this actually happening.

Good rule to follow- I think I should try that. I have bought pretty tops that are still hanging unworn in my closet. I still secretly love that they are there…
