OOTD: A dreamy top

Ahhhh, Nanette Lepore. You make such amazing clothing that is flattering on women of all shapes and sizes. I pine for multiple pieces every season. This outfit features Ms. Lepore’s Entangled Top, a masterpiece in hammered silk. I managed to score it on a killer sale at her Soho boutique last spring. I am almost always a 6 in the brand but the 8 was the closest size left. It’s a bit big but nothing too bad.

By now you’re probably sick of hearing about my love affair with the Many Moods Skirt ($78) but here it is again anyway. I am a big believer in the wisdom that’s it better to own fewer items that you will wear again and again. I have spent the last year and a half building my wardrobe. The building has been done mostly with mid-range brands and a few key buys from designers. Pretty soon that phase will be over; I’ll only buy a few items each season. Then again I think it will be hard to say no to some trendy pieces!

A few more shots of the outfit below, including one of me practicing my karate chop:

Speaking of impulse buys, both J.Crew’s J.Crew Pebble Ring Anthropologie’s Urchin’s Shell Earrings ($24) were grabby hands purchases. Both both have worked out really well. The ring has a pink tone to it and while the product shot for the earrings does not reflect they too have a touch of pink to them. The result is that they play well with neutrals. The ring is a bit big as the photo below shows but I have much larger costume jewelry. The earrings are small, about the size of a quarter.

LOVE the earrings, Roxy! Funny, I just returned that ring to JCrew last weekend…too many other things I wanted instead. And between your post and Chloe's post today, I might have to start a love affair with Ms. Lepore too…

nanette lepore flatters women of all sizes…under 14. don't get me wrong, i love her clothes, but i'm only too aware of how rarely i can get into them so such a statement brings tears to my eyes.
