Review: Mail order Anthro

Hope you had a lovely weekend. I didn’t make it to Anthropologie this weekend unfortunately. And really truth be told I barely made it out of the apartment. (My eyes are close to shooting laser beams at the computer screen I think.) Yesterday night there were fireworks over at South Street Seaport, which is just a few blocks from my apartment. I did go out to catch those. And today there was some random Spanish music video being shot outside my apartment window. Only in New York.

Of course being home isn’t all bad. When my Anthropologie mail order came yesterday I was here to immediately grab it. Hooray for free shipping.

First up, the Twisted Tank ($68) by Bordeaux. I feared the bubble hem but couldn’t resist the overall allure of this top. I ordered the blue because I’d tried on the purple in-store and it was…althogether now…sheer. Luckily the blue did not share that issue.

The top is amazing on. I ordered a medium and it fit wonderfully. At 26″ long the shirt sat well on me and the bubble hem was understated compared to that of the beloved Necklace Tank. In fact the bubble hem was barely noticeable. The shirt is kind of slippery and ripples in the wind. Love it, winner, keeper.

Next is the Blurred Reef Camisole ($40 on sale). I have wanted this top since it first became available but other items kept moving in front of it on my grab list. Now on sale it was impossible to resist. I was surprised by how flowy this top was in my natural size medium. It looks much more structured in the model photos. The gathering at the top gives way to a shape that I could easily pull out into a tent. I felt it made me look wide. However, when I followed the model styling and tucked it into a skirt it looked fantastic. So this is another keeper, as long as it is tucked in or belted.

Last in my package was the Plaza Cardigan ($128) by Moth. A friend of mine owns this in black and it looked amazing on her. So I thought I’d give it a shot. The cotton is nice and soft and it’s a long sweater. In the fall I feel it’d be perfect. I ordered a large because I am in-between sizes with Moth and that was a mistake. I looked like a rufflepotamus. With a big ruffle sash. And really long arms. It was all I could do to keep from laughing. So I’ll most likely exchange this one for a medium. It’s too warm to wear this right now anyway.

I have not seen the Plaza cardigan! Love it! It is hard to think sweaters when it is just starting to warm up around here.

Yay for free shipping! I agree!Bordeaux is one of my absolute-favorite brands Anthro carries. The material they use for their pieces are always so soft and comfy! And love the cardigan! You're right, it WOULD be perfect for fall – I might have to be on the lookout for that. But being only 5" tall, would the ruffles make ME look like a "rufflepotamus"? ;p

Just wondering, is the reef top true to size? Thanks.
