Metapost: It pays to be a packrat

I have a house guest at the moment and he watched curiously as I opened my packages today. One was a couple of J.Crew items. The other was shaped like a book but opened to reveal a bunch of catalogues.

“What are those?” He asked.
“Old Anthropologie catalogues,” I replied.
“Old catalogues? As in they don’t sell the clothing anymore?”
“That’s right.”
(Curious stare from his spot on the couch.)

I tried likening it to baseball memorabilia but he remained dubious. Nonetheless I am super pleased to slowly be reacquiring the years of catalogues I wish I’d never thrown away. I’ve placed a link in the sidebar but if you or anyone you know has Anthro catalogues from 2005 on back…please email me (addy in the About Me section in the sidebar). I am working on a project with them which I will discuss more in just a little bit.

My apologies for the post slowdown this week. I am about to launch a freelance project and it’s sapping both my time and my creativity. I have one fresh post for tomorrow and things will pick up again this weekend. Thanks for hanging around!

Yeah, another packrat! I don't collect old anthropologie catalogs, but every year I buy a couple of copies of the InStyle best beauty buys issue when it comes out. Then I keep those copies around until the next year when the next version of it comes out. I don't know if I've said this before, but I love your blog! I don't have an anthropologie in my city, but I frequently visit cities that do. I have a stressful job, and it is so nice to sit on my couch after work and check out my favorite blogs.

I have never kept them but I wish I did now. It would be so fun to look back!

It would be such a great little side revenue stream for Anthropologie. Seeing the catalogues scanned and on the internets is one thing; having them and flipping through the pages is quite another (awesome) experience. They should reprint, sell them for $3/each and $5/each for the super popular issues. I would buy them!

For several years now, I've been in deep love with Anthropologie, and recently I stumbled across your lovely blog. It's wonderful! How fun to find like-minded people.I thought about saving my catalogues once, but I thought that I'd seem too obsessed (my boyfriend says I might be anyway). But you know what? I'm saving them now – I'm not the only Anthro nut!

I save certain pages of each catalogue to use for wrapping paper. A few I have kept for scenery, clothing, hairstyles but generally they get the toss. I am intrigues about your project!

I have every catalog Anthropologie made from 1995 on. They are in ptistine condition. Let me check for doubles. I always grabbed a few when walking out when they first came out and left them by the front door!

I HAVE THE STITCH ALREADY BUT Which do you want? if i have a double it's al yours. I sell anthropologie clothing from years ago, all brand new with tags. My site is about to go up now. I sell on ebay also. I have a room in my house that has enough clothes to open and fill an anthropologie store!
