Email: Denim distress call

Anthropologie is taking a trip back to the 1990s with their latest email about distressed denim. I practically live in jeans and I feel like I’ve owned just about every shape jeans can come in. While I don’t mind distressed jeans and even had a pair once in high school I have a hard time justifying spending $150+ on jeans that come pre-destroyed. Some of the pairs Anthro shows off are cute enough. But no thanks for me. Are you a fan?

I have to admit I do pay for a good pair of jeans. Most higher priced denim is a quality fabric that doesn't stretch out…. really keeps it's shape, unlike inexpensive denim from AE or other "teen" shops. I will only splurge on one pair a season however, so that makes it more justifiable. Enjoying your blog!

Thanks cdp! And ITA about jeans — at the risk of sounding like a denim snob I'd much rather buy a pair of J Brand/AG/Joe's/Citizen of Humanity and have them hold their shape and last for years then get a cheaper pair that wears out after a season.

I bought a pair of j beand jeans from anthropologie in late feb… and they have already streched out and now have hole forming in the crotch area… I'm pretty pissed off. As I spent $158 and they already lost their shape. Total buyers remorse!

Yep, I agree with the above! Jeans snob I am! I am probably older than all of you here… but let me tell you from the day I started wearing jeans (back in the 70's, yeah, Jordache) I worked hard to buy the best jeans. I have been through hard financial times before and tried cheaper jeans and they never ever fit right, felt right or looked good on me! They are the jeans that sit in my closet forever waiting to be tossed to Goodwill. My motto forever will be QUALITY NOT QUANTITY… I still have AG's from 4 years ago that look great… Joe's, Genetics,I keep them forever! And I did just buy the new ones from Anthro's which I completely love! Great article. Thanks.

Yeah, probably not going to buy these. But I did learn a few ways to distress my own jeans. These are really adorable though.
