Anthropologie preparing its London debut

Anthropologie is coming to London’s Regent St. this summer as its international expansion continues. Anthro created a bit of a stir when it snapped up James Bidwell, the head of VisitLondon to be the managing director of Anthropologie Europe in September but the move seems to have paid off. London is abuzz about the new store! Several tabs pondside have named it their most anticipated store debut of the year.

Now the opening is just a few months away. Anthro will join Intermix, Banana Republic, Abercrombie, Gap and of course Urban Outfitters as some American Brands that have successfully made the jump across the pond. Londoners are probably dying for the shop to open the way New Yorkers can’t wait for Topshop.

What I am hoping to see from this are some European-inspired designs making their way stateside. Anthropologie prides itself on seeking out independent designers and I think they’ve done well; it would be wonderful to see that trend expanded to Europe. I have enjoyed other stores bringing their European designs over to America (Gap, Express, H&M to name a few) and hopefully Anthropologie will be no different.

Most spring lines are in production already, and summer releases should follow soon behind. I can’t wait to see if any new designers from Europe make it into Anthropologie’s new releases.
